The Organisation

The Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis (IEEFA) is a global NGO/non-profit think tank thought leader that produces a significant volume of original independent public interest research and analysis on issues related to sustainable energy markets, trends, regulations, and policies. Headquartered in the United States, IEEFA has staff located across the globe including in the greater Asia-Pacific region. The Role

In this highly visible role you will research and publish reports and commentaries on South Korea’s energy mix and transition pathways across key technologies. Working as part of a regional team, and with diverse stakeholder groups across the region, you will evaluate prospects across economic, financial, energy security, and decarbonization considerations, collaborating with internal and external partners, including policymakers, financial institutions and industry experts, to maximise research impact. You will also:

  • Monitor trends, policies, and market developments to inform research priorities.
  • Present findings to targeted stakeholders to drive engagement and influence change.
  • Maintain key relationships including with government, regulators, and financial institutions.
  • Support publications through public engagement, media responses, and thought leadership.

Qualifications

IEEFA is seeking a progressive energy finance expert who is committed to IEEFA’s mission. You should have relevant financial/energy qualifications and energy and financial analysis expertise, gained in either the finance or energy sector, and a strong understanding of the key drivers of South Korea’s energy transition. Whether your experience is from banking and finance, a ratings or consulting firm, or the energy sector, you will have strong English writing, reporting, and presentation skills and multinational experience or exposure. You will also bring:

  • Expert understanding of energy finance, energy economics, and use of quantitative analysis.
  • Effective collaboration and relationship building skills; able to present to senior stakeholders.
  • Independence, high personal accountability, effective prioritization of tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work well with a diverse team of regional experts and present confidently in English.
  • High degree of technological proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and relevant software.
  • Advanced Korean language skills, working rights, and relevant work experience in Korea.
