Positive Money

Positive Money

Position description

Positive Money is a think tank and campaign organisation working to reimagine our money and banking system for the wellbeing of people, communities and the planet. We have offices in London and Brussels, and are part of a growing movement for economic systems change. We collaborate with policymakers, the public and economists around the world to redesign our economic system for social justice and a liveable planet.

We are recruiting for a Policy Intern to support our advocacy efforts to reform the money and baking system. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in policy within the context of economic reform. You will report to the Head Policy and focus on supporting our work with the European Central Bank (ECB) and the engagement with EU policymakers.

Responsibilities include:

      • Assist in the development of policy briefs and position papers, blogs, and other advocacy materials
      • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments related to our mission, with a focus on the political debate around the ECB’s climate action, digital euro and sustainable finance
      • Support outreach efforts to build relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, other NGOs, ECB and NCB officials
      • Assist in the preparation of meetings, events and presentations for public speaking engagements
      • Provide general administrative support to the policy team, including scheduling meetings, managing documentation, and maintaining databases

We are committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility and aim to dismantle oppression in all areas of our work. If you have any questions or considerations you would like us to accommodate in the recruitment process, please email Laura, our Head of Policy, at[email protected].

We invite anyone who is interested to apply, regardless of background, experience, or credentials. We aim to select candidates based on performance in our selection process and actively try to minimise the influence of our biases. There is no perfect candidate, so if you can picture yourself thriving in this role, we’d love to receive an Application from you.

Person Specification

      • Commitment to Positive Money’s mission and commitment to learning about our culture (see ourvalues and principles of work), including our anti-oppression work
      • Knowledge of EU regulatory and political landscape
      • Willingness to learn about the EU monetary policy and financial system
      • Desire to develop skills across policy, campaigns, and public affairs
      • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, completing tasks in line with priorities and timelines set by the Head of Policy, while collaborating with the team
      • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills; an additional European language is a plus
      • Previous internship experience is a plus
