Position description

Ontic are the experts in keeping aircraft flying safely for longer, trusted by the world’s aerospace leaders for over 45 years. They are the leading manufacturer of OEM pedigree parts and provider of MRO services for established aircraft in the commercial, military, business aviation, and rotorcraft markets.

Ontic is a highly acquisitive private equity backed business with international dimensions. It’s a fast-paced and dynamic environment with offices in the US, Europe and Far East.

Due to the high growth nature of the business, we are looking to expand the Trade Compliance team with an International Trade Compliance Specialist I for the major growth location in Miramar, Florida. Reporting to the Miramar Trade Compliance Lead, this position is needed to assist in maintaining compliance with the Trade Compliance framework, systems and procedures required by law in a transactional environment.

To be considered for the International Trade Compliance Specialist I opening, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in public sector aerospace industry is desired.
  • ITAR/EAR Classification experience.
  • Experience in preparing and submitting applications for EAR export licenses in SNAP-R.
  • HTS classification experience.
  • Foundational experience with AES and EEI filing.
  • Microsoft Office skills, ERP, DPS Screening experience.
  • Experience with Syteline ERP is a plus.
  • Thorough knowledge of  ITAR and EAR.
  • Self-directed, good negotiation skills, sense of urgency, reliability and accountability
  • Ability to build and maintain good relationships with internal and external partners including site leadership team, Business Development, customers, freight forwarders, brokers, government agencies and other Ontic companies/departments/divisions
  • Strong critical thinking skills and expertise in solving complex situations with short lead times on a daily basis.
  • Able to determine import/export classifications using research and analysis skills and interpretation of drawings/technical specifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

As an International Trade Compliance Specialist I, you will: 

  • Provide on-site support to the location in managing the site’s exports and imports, as well as interacting with all functional areas, including Trade Compliance staff at other Ontic sites.
  • Perform Import/Export activities in compliance with Government rules and regulations, organizational policies, procedures, and departmental goals and objectives.
  • Participate in Production Meetings to provide status updates of Trade Compliance action items.
  • Perform Denied Party Screenings (DPS), as required.
  • Perform classification of ITAR/EAR products and technology and maintain classification database.
  • Apply for Commerce/State export licenses, as needed.
  • Perform timely review of shipping documents for exports to ensure all required documents are compliant prior to export, as well as timely auditing of associated EEIs filings.
  • Verify/determine Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS), as needed.
  • Maintain import and export records in accordance with CBP regulations (19 CFR 163), as well as Ontic policies and procedures.
  • Perform Third-Party Vetting of new vendors and customers.
  • Diligently and professionally manage other tasks, projects and/or responsibilities as assigned and/or delegated by the Trade Compliance Lead.

Salary Range: 

$80,000- $95,000/year, based on experience
