Position description

The position is to be filled as soon as possible, with an initial contract duration of 12 months. There are very good prospects for an extension. Employment location will be Fort Liberté, Haiti (HT).

As the Project Manager / Area Manager, you will oversee the strategic, operational, and administrative implementation of the project in Haiti’s North-East. You will ensure the effective coordination of water management, agricultural development, local governance, and nutrition activities, while supervising field teams and supporting local partners. You will also act as the focal point for site offices, ensuring efficient use of resources and reporting to the central coordination office in Port-au-Prince.

Your responsibilities

      • Lead the overall project planning and ensure coherence across all components (irrigation, agriculture, governance, nutrition, social protection).
      • Supervise a multidisciplinary team, including technical experts, assistants, and institutional partners.
      • Implement and monitor project tools: activity progress, budget, indicators, and risk management.
      • Ensure quality and timeliness of project deliverables, reports, and technical documentation.
      • Manage administrative, financial, and contractual aspects: budgets, expenditures, procurement, contracts, and local partner relations.
      • Represent the project with local authorities, producers’ organizations, committees, and other stakeholders.
      • Coordinate closely with NGOs, technical agencies, community committees, and nutrition/protection actors.
      • Support capacity-building of local governance structures, watershed management committees, and participatory platforms.
      • Supervise activities targeting vulnerable households, including income-generating activities, resilience measures, and nutrition awareness.
      • Ensure timely reporting, internal and external communication, and visibility of project results and innovations.
      • Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor to ensure smooth project implementation.

Your profile

      • University degree in agriculture, rural development, water management, project management, economics, international relations or a related field.
      • Proven experience in project management, preferably in agricultural development, water management, or humanitarian contexts.
      • Experience supervising multidisciplinary teams and coordinating multiple project components.
      • Strong knowledge of project administration, financial management, and donor compliance.
      • Experience in monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of complex projects.
      • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
      • Ability to work with local authorities, NGOs, and community structures.
      • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
      • Commitment to participatory approaches, community engagement, and sustainability.
      • Readiness to receive the necessary vaccinations to work in our country offices.
      • You recognize the growing value of data in your field and strive to make evidence-based decisions.
      • Fluency in French required; knowledge of English and/or Haitian Creole is an asset.
