Position description

GAIN is seeking to recruit an Intern, Communication and Research who will be responsible for the A1 portfolio, Knowledge Leadership, and the GAIN’s Dutch engagement. This internship will be offered on a six (6) months fixed term contract, subject to availability of funding and will be based in Utrecht, The Netherlands. This advert closes on 14th August 2026. GAIN encourages early applications and reserves the right to close the advert ahead of the advertised deadline if we receive a high volume of interest.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Consolidating communication products across the portfolio.
  • contributing to the development of new communication materials (factsheets, website content, blogs, etc.)
  • Support the team’s research and evidence work, likely through the development of briefing papers that translate evidence from evaluations for the lay audience. The relevant projects and programmes will include, but is not limited to, the A1 portfolio.
  • Helping organise key events and sessions in the Netherlands (e.g. World Food Day 2026)
  • Writing some blogs (based on existing content) for the Netherlands Working Group on International Nutrition.

About you

The ideal candidate will be currently enrolled in, or have recently graduated from, a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme in Nutrition, Food Systems, International Development, Public Health, Communications, or a related field. They will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to translate complex technical information on food systems and nutrition into engaging, accessible content such as factsheets, blogs, technical reports, and presentations. They will have experience conducting literature reviews and synthesising evidence, alongside strong professional or academic writing skills. A basic understanding of project management principles and experience supporting project coordination, administration, event logistics, scheduling, or similar activities will be an advantage. The successful candidate will be highly organised, capable of managing multiple priorities, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a diverse, international team. They will bring a proactive, detail-oriented, flexible, and hands-on approach to their work, demonstrate cultural awareness through experience engaging with people from different backgrounds, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office applications and other common office systems is essential.

About our offer

The stipend on offer for this role is EUR 747, Monthly.
