<div class="prose-job-description“>

Position description

Are you passionate about the energy transition and interested in influencing EU policy through collaboration and dialogue?

As a mid-level EU Policy Advisor at Vattenfall, you will work closely with colleagues and stakeholders in Brussels to monitor, analyse and shape EU energy and climate policies, helping create the regulatory conditions needed for long‑term transformation.

What will you do as an EU policy advisor?

Together with your colleagues, you will work to ensure an EU policy framework that enables Vattenfall to transition to fossil freedom, through:

Outreach & advocacy

  • Proactively identify outreach opportunities, drive and execute influencing strategies, supporting coalition building efforts;
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with EU institutions, industry associations, and key stakeholders in Brussels;
  • Attend and represent the company in meetings, events, and external forums;
  • Translate complex policy developments into clear, actionable insights;
  • Contribute to our communication activities to enhance visibility and impact of our advocacy.

EU policy monitoring & positioning

  • Monitor and assess EU policy developments in energy, climate and sustainability policies;
  • Analyse EU institutions’ communications and legislative proposals, assessing their impact on business activities together with the business and EU team;
  • Contribute to the development of position papers, briefings, speaking points and outreach material.

Internal collaboration

  • Work closely with colleagues in the EU team and experts across markets and technologies within the company;
  • Contribute to cross-functional projects and policy prioritisation.

This role includes travel within Europe, including to Vattenfall locations, for meetings and events.

Qualifications

What do you need to apply?

As our new (mid-level) EU Policy Advisor we will have 3 to 5 years relevant EU policy experience. But we also like you to have:

  • Understanding of EU decision-making, combined with keen interest in EU energy and climate policies and the way they can/should facilitate the energy transition;
  • Experience in navigating EU policy decision-making, with a strong interest in stakeholder engagement;
  • You are a strategic thinker, with strong analytical skills and can balance between diving into a topic and seeing how it fits in the bigger picture;
  • You love working together with others in a multicultural environment, proactively seeking for cooperation in the team, and with internal and external stakeholders;
  • You have a master’s degree or equivalent;
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills in English and at least one other EU language, with a preference for Swedish, German, Dutch or Danish.
