Position description

 

Visiting Assistant Professor in Artificial Intelligence, Policy, and Society 

Purdue’s Political Science Department is seeking a visiting assistant professor for the 2025-2026 academic year to teach master’s level core courses AI policy, governance, and social impacts in the university-wide Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence degree. The position begins in August 2025 and, with approval, may be held remotely from locations within the United States. The position may be renewable for an additional year, contingent on budget approval.

This person in this position will teach a four-course equivalency per semester of online master’s level courses in areas related to AI governance, public policy, and social impacts of AI. This position also contributes to the administrative management of the core courses and assists with updating course material. Purdue offers a supportive environment with many opportunities for professional development. 

 

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must hold a master’s degree in political science, public policy, public administration, or a closely related field. Preferred: A PhD or at least three years of relevant job experience in addition to a masters degree. Candidates must have academic expertise and/or work experience related to one or more of the following areas: public policy, public administration, social and policy impacts of artificial intelligence, or use of AI tools in the workplace. Applicants should have evidence of successful post-secondary teaching experience.
