Your New Role…

CNN is seeking a Senior Visual Investigative Producer based in the US to lead, develop, and execute original graphics-driven video investigations for all of CNN’s platforms including digital, streaming, cable and social. This senior role requires a proven leader with a track record of producing impactful visual stories, advanced OSINT skills, and the ability to help guide multidisciplinary teams in bringing complex narratives to life. The Senior Producer will help set editorial direction and ensure the highest standards of journalistic integrity and innovation.

Your Role Accountabilities…

      • Conceive, report, write, and produce original investigative stories primarily for US platforms from idea to publication with strong video and motion graphics components for all CNN’s platforms.

      • Work in collaboration with other team members inside and outside the unit including reporters, correspondents, senior producers, writers, etc., fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.

      • Own a visual investigative story from beginning to end developing ideas, reporting, producing shoots, writing and editing visual investigations, ensuring accuracy, originality, and narrative strength.

      • Conduct deep-dive OSINT research and verification, leveraging advanced digital forensic tools and methodologies.

      • Collaborate with animators, editors, data journalists, and other teams to visualize and elevate complex stories.

      • Oversee all aspects of story research and newsgathering, collaborating with unit leaders on story direction and focus.

      • Manage multiple high-impact investigative projects, balancing long-term initiatives with rapid-turn exclusives.

      • Shape investigative strategy, proactively identifying emerging trends and opportunities for original reporting.

      • Uphold and advance CNN’s journalistic standards, ethics, and commitment to impactful storytelling.

      • Set up and produce shoots and edits and supervise teams in the field including video photojournalists, lighting, sound, location sites, etc.

      • Identify, research, and locate video clips and sound bites from internal and external sources.

      • Conceive creative, dynamic graphics and oversee field assignment logistics, including permissions, security, and budgeting.

      • Work independently to oversee all aspects of a story, including assignment, deadlines, in coordination with leadership and other teams.

      • Produce live segments in the field, studio, or remote locations as needed.

      • Assist in or write text stories for CNN’s digital platforms.

Qualifications:

      • Minimum of 8 years of production experience in news television or digital video journalism, with investigative reporting experience required.

      • Demonstrated ability to produce and oversee impactful, video-first investigations that have led to public awareness or change.

      • Skilled at conceiving and overseeing production of motion graphics and animations including 3D animation when necessary.

      • Advanced scripting, storytelling, and editorial skills, with a mastery of visual narrative techniques.

      • Proficiency in OSINT methods and tools; including video verification, AI detection, geolocation, chronolocation and metadata analysis. Proficient in Google Earth Pro, marine and flight tracking, etc.

      • Strong news judgment, journalistic ethics, and meticulous attention to detail.

      • Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex projects under tight deadlines.

      • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

      • BA/BS in journalism, politics, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.

      • Willingness to travel as needed for reporting assignments.
