About the Department
The Department of Political Science is a supportive and dynamic community of scholars and students. Political Science offers minors in public policy and pre-law, which draw students from across a wide range of academic disciplines, and we offer a Master’s degree in Public Policy. The Department currently has 6 tenured or tenure-track members. Over 140 students major in Political Science, over 130 minor in our programs, and another 30 major in the interdisciplinary International Studies program to which we contribute. Position Overview:
We welcome candidates working in any area of IR. Candidates should demonstrate an active and rigorous research agenda in their area of specialization and be prepared to teach Introduction to International Relations, US Foreign Policy, and courses within their own specialization, as well as contribute to the Department’s research course sequence. The successful candidate will excel in the classroom and seek ways to integrate their scholarship and teaching, consistent with the Department’s teacher-scholar model. The typical teaching load is three courses per semester. All new tenure-track faculty members receive one course release per year, in two of their first three years, to support their scholarship. A PhD is preferred, but the College will consider ABDs if the degree will be granted by time of appointment. Applications received by November 1 will receive full consideration.
