Position description

We are looking to hire a Senior Consultant to work on client and HLC growth projects with a primary focus on healthcare and life sciences policy. This role is suited to a business-minded Public Affairs professional with strong interest and health policy & access experience at EU, pan-European/global, and (ideally) national level, who can think critically, ensure high-quality delivery, manage multiple workstreams efficiently, and enjoy working closely with senior counsel and clients.

For further information on our work, please consult our website and our profile on Best in Brussels.

Key responsibilities include:

      • Leadership and integrity: Lead your project team to achieve client goals while becoming your client’s trusted advisor;
      • Strategic thinking: Provide insightful, actionable advice on e.g., complex health policy and access issues, health innovation, sustainability and patient engagement topics;
      • External engagement: Nurture existing and build new relationships with external stakeholders to drive network development and represent the company externally;
      • Planning and organisation: Develop and deliver workable public affairs strategies and plans supportive of client goals underpinned by solid rationale, models and thinking;
      • Content development: Create stakeholder engagement and advocacy collateral and lead the day-to-day running of external campaigns;
      • Presenting and communication excellence: Present your ideas clearly and creatively to maximise impact (orally and in writing) in front of senior NGO and business leadership during workshops or other high-intensity settings;
      • Managing finances: Oversee yearly and project-based budgets for different accounts, and ensure projects stay within budget;
      • Solution-oriented: Proactively bring solutions or suggested way forwards when faced with new challenges. ‘Can do’ and entrepreneurial attitude is a must in a growing company!

Qualifications

Skills/qualities we are looking for:

      • Strong expertise in healthcare and life sciences in Pharma, Biotech, MedTech, or public health, including EU policy & legislation and patient & market access issues;
      • Demonstrable experience working on health policy and access issues (e.g., in the context of legislative reform and/or launch of a new therapy) with a solid understanding of European regulatory & decision-making processes;
      • Excellent writing and editorial skills with experience in drafting political narratives for a range of political and non-political audiences, positioning, and advocacy materials for senior audiences;
      • Experience in organising virtual and F2F events, e.g., workshops and webinars, trainings, large scale stakeholder events;
      • Proven organisational skills, with a track record of effectively prioritising and managing competing demands;
      • Strong credentials and interest in external engagement and networking;
      • Ability to contribute to new business development and growth with senior leadership (i.e., identifying and conceptualising opportunities, preparing proposals, engaging externally);
      • Experience managing small teams (including delegating to and overseeing tasks given to junior colleagues) and working collaboratively in a fast-paced consulting environment

Required experience and qualifications:

      • Minimum of 5 years professional experience, primarily in healthcare and life sciences policy, gained in-house, within a consultancy or trade association;
      • A Masters’ degree and a strong, demonstrable interest in business and political issues, with a focus on healthcare policy;
      • A track record of managing a portfolio of clients and multiple projects simultaneously, meeting client expectations and maintaining high-quality work product;
      • Ability to think critically and strategically, providing active input on how to drive a project forward: support senior leadership in finding solutions to complex public affairs issues and ability to communicate them effectively to clients;
      • A team motivator who understands how to drive work forward across multiple accounts, while also making a positive contribution to the culture of a business;
      • A network of Brussels-based contacts and relationships across EU institutions, the wider healthcare stakeholder eco-system, and/or industry sector(s);
      • Excellent communication skills with professional proficiency in spoken and written English. Knowledge of other languages is desirable;
      • Excellent knowledge of PowerPoint and experience developing presentations and communication materials for senior/executive audiences;
