Position description

As a Policy Advisor, you will be integrated into our growing policy team and contribute to the core activities of our association including legal research and analysis, EU representation and policy support. You will be charged with tasks related to project management and policy research including the analysis and assessment of both EU and national legal frameworks that are relevant in the context of energy communities.

Signing up for the position of Policy Advisor provides an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to shaping tomorrow’s energy system and providing opportunities for local actors.

The role of Policy Advisor involves a diverse range of responsibilities that are crucial for promoting citizen energy initiatives. Here’s a breakdown of some key aspects:

      • Project management. Contributing to European projects (including coordination efforts), ensuring that policy goals are met and results are effectively communicated, showcasing the impact of REScoop.eu’s work;
      • Legislative analysis. Gathering and analysing relevant legislation from the EU and Member States, to help inform REScoop.eu’s policy work and ensure that advocacy efforts are grounded in current policies;
      • Transposition tracker. Contributing to updates of the REScoop.eu transposition tracker tool, which will be essential for monitoring how EU directives are transposed and implemented at the national level;
      • Engagement with Members. Collaborating with members of the REScoop.eu network through the Advocacy Working Group, to gather data on national developments and craft appropriate policy responses;
      • Broader partnership engagement. Collaborating with various stakeholders within our wider network will enhance project outcomes and build a strong network for knowledge sharing and support;
      • Event participation. Presenting at high-level events is a chance to highlight our key successes and engage with a broader audience, which can help attract further support and collaboration;
      • Representation. Acting as a representative for REScoop.eu means you’ll have the opportunity to advocate for the advancement of energy communities at both the EU and national levels;
      • Policy team contribution. Being part of our dynamic policy team will allow for collaborative brainstorming and strategy development, contributing to a cohesive advocacy effort;
      • Project proposal development. Contributing to new project proposals, particularly those within the field of EU policy, will be key in securing funding and resources for future endeavours.

Your profile

      • Master’s degree in Law, Political Science, Social Policy, Energy Policy, European Studies, or a related field who can fall back on at least 3 years of relevant working experience in the field of policy and legal analysis;
      • Excellent knowledge of the energy system, EU policies, energy transition and legislation related to prosumers;
      • Proven experience in EU-level advocacy, as well as in-depth knowledge about the political processes of the European Union and its institutions;
      • Any relevant expertise or experience in the field of energy communities or citizen energy initiatives will be considered a plus;
      • A license to practice law, or another equivalent qualification, along with experience, will be considered a plus;
      • Fluent in English (both in writing and speaking). Knowledge of another EU language is definitely an asset;
      • Strong analytical skills for monitoring, assessing and summarising policies, legislation, and regulations and their impact on energy communities both at EU and national level;
      • Excellent public speaking and communication skills for conveying (often) complex policy information clearly to various stakeholders, including high level policymakers, decision-makers and grassroots initiatives;
      • Sound organisational skills, allowing you to work with others and deliver high quality output in collaboration with people from different backgrounds;
      • You have EU citizenship or have the right to work in the EU.
