The Century Foundation

Position description

Washington, D.C. | Hybrid Minimum 2 Days a week in office | Minimum Salary: $75,000, Maximum Salary: $77,000

The Century Foundation (TCF), a progressive, independent think tank, seeks a policy associate to join our Maternal and Reproductive Health team. As the Black maternal health crisis deepens, and access to abortion and reproductive care teeters following the fall of Roe v Wade, join a team determined to push back. The policy associate will participate in research projects, draft publications, and support the team with activities that address maternal and reproductive health inequity, with a strong racial equity lens.

Job Reporting and Details

Reporting to the director of maternal and reproductive health, the policy associate will work alongside other TCF experts, as well as the nationally recognized Black Maternal Health Federal Policy Collective, to advance Black maternal health, abortion access, and reproductive health care. This is an ideal position for a new professional with interest in maternal health, birth equity, and reproductive justice policy. Current focus areas for the team include amplifying the policy expertise of Black women focused on maternal health; abortion and maternal health; disability and reproductive justice; contraceptive equity and access; and other intersectional issues within reproductive health, rights, and justice.

This is a full-time hybrid position, working two days in our Washington, D.C. office, and the remainder remotely. Salary depends on years of experience and level of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Researching health policy and maternal health topics identified by the team Director and preparing background memos and literature reviews
  • Helping with logistics and operations for the Black Maternal Health Federal Policy Collective
  • Participating in select coalitions focused on health care, reproductive rights/justice, maternal health, and related topics
  • Occasionally writing commentaries, fact sheets, and reports
  • Assisting with outreach to allied organizations, federal oversight agencies, and policy makers
  • Coordinating logistics for events and meetings in collaboration with the team and events manager
  • Assisting with scheduling and administrative support
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, public policy, sociology, or gender studies
  • One to two years of post-graduate professional work experience
  • Exceptional research and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Apps
  • Demonstrated interest in state, federal, and local governmental policy-making processes
  • Strong commitment to reproductive rights and justice, health equity, and other progressive values as consistent with TCF’s health care research agenda

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt position. The salary range is $75,000 to $77,000 plus excellent benefits, including health, dental, vision, and an employer-funded health reimbursement account (HRA). This benefit package is in addition to generous vacation and unlimited sick days, employer matching 401k plan, and up to fourteen weeks parental leave.
