Your next career opportunity

As Lecturer in Health and Physical Education, you will be a member of an academic team within the Health, Outdoor, Physical Education and Sport (HOPES) specialisation in the Faculty of Education, and play a pivotal role in advancing teaching, scholarship, engagement, and leadership while also contributing more broadly to the fields of teaching and teacher education. You will coordinate and deliver subjects at both undergraduate and graduate levels, with a particular emphasis on the Faculty of Education’s undergraduate breadth subjects and graduate initial teacher education programmes. In addition to your teaching responsibilities, you will enhance the faculty’s local and international reputation through scholarly activity aligned with its strategic priorities, supervise research students, and contribute to the development of future educators through high-quality research training.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and delivering diverse teaching modalities, developing and reviewing curricula, and coordinating subject administration including supervision of sessional staff.
  • Assessing student progress through timely feedback, marking, moderation, supporting practical application of theory, and monitoring teaching quality for continuous improvement.
  • Conducting and disseminating scholarship in the Health, Outdoor, Physical Education and Sport (HOPES) field, securing research funding, supervising graduate research students, and engaging in national and international academic forums.
  • Providing leadership through contributing to professional development, participating in faculty and university committees, supporting colleagues, and engaging with relevant professional and community organisations.

You will also:

  • Hold a PhD or research doctorate relevant to the Health, Outdoor, Physical Education and Sport (HOPES) specialist area with a focus on education and teaching.
  • Demonstrate experience in course or subject development, subject coordination, and providing specialised support to students on placement.
  • Maintain a developing research profile with a strong record of publications in leading academic outlets and the ability to contribute to research funding and supervision of graduate research students.
  • Possess proficiency in digital literacy and familiarity with contemporary digital pedagogies to support innovative research, learning, and teaching practices.
