<div class="prose-job-description“>

Position description

Help inspire the next generation of explorers, innovators, and problem-solvers. Challenger Center is seeking a creative and mission-driven Communications Associate to amplify the stories, programs, and impact of an organization founded to honor the legacy of the Challenger astronauts through transformative STEM education.

In this dynamic role, you’ll help shape how students, educators, donors, partners, and communities engage with our mission through compelling content, social media, public relations, and marketing initiatives. If you’re passionate about storytelling, education, and making a meaningful difference, this is an opportunity to contribute to a global organization that sparks curiosity, fuels discovery, and empowers future leaders to reach beyond the stars.

Best-in-Class Benefits and Perks:

We value our employees’ time and effort. We offer competitive compensation of $65,000 – $85,000, depending on experience, and an extensive benefits package, which enhances our commitment to your success. Our client’s benefits package includes:

    • Comprehensive health coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance provided
    • Robust retirement planning: 401(k) plan available with employer matching
    • Financial security: Life and disability insurance for added protection
    • Flexible financial options: Health savings and flexible spending accounts are offered
    • Well-being and work-life balance: Paid time off, flexible schedule, and remote work choices provided

Additionally, we strive to create an optimal environment for our employees, where they can learn, grow, and thrive within the company. We strive to provide a collaborative, creative environment where everyone feels encouraged to contribute to our processes, decisions, planning, and culture.

To be successful, you should have:

    • Bachelor’s degree required, with 1–3 years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, digital media, or a related field; recent graduates with relevant coursework and a strong portfolio are encouraged to apply.
    • Proven experience managing social media platforms and content calendars, with familiarity using social media management tools such as Sprout Social or similar platforms.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create, edit, and proofread compelling content for a variety of audiences and communication channels.
    • Strong visual storytelling and branding skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with Adobe Creative Suite, graphic design, video editing, or other creative tools are highly desirable.
    • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously; experience with WordPress, Google Analytics, HTML, Constant Contact, MailChimp, or similar digital marketing platforms is a plus.

Your responsibilities as the Communication Associate will include:

    • Create and manage engaging digital content across social media, email marketing, blogs, and website platforms, including copywriting, graphic design, short-form video production, content scheduling, and performance reporting.
    • Develop, edit, and proofread a variety of communications materials, including newsletters, annual reports, presentations, speeches, marketing collateral, and other external-facing content while ensuring consistency with Challenger Center’s brand and style guidelines.
    • Support public relations and media outreach efforts by assisting with media relations campaigns, monitoring, and tracking media coverage, maintaining media lists, and helping promote organizational initiatives and achievements.
    • Assist with the planning and execution of conferences, special events, and community engagement activities, representing Challenger Center and supporting marketing and communications objectives.
    • Maintain communications assets, provide reporting and analytics, support departmental planning and goal setting, and stay current on industry trends and best practices in STEM education, educational technology, nonprofit communications, and digital marketing.

If you’re a creative storyteller who believes in the power of education to change lives, this is your opportunity to make a lasting impact. Join Challenger Center and help inspire future scientists, engineers, explorers, and innovators through compelling communications that bring our mission to life. Apply today and be part of a team that’s helping students reach for the stars—and beyond.
