Position description

Allied For Startups is looking for a dynamic and creative Communication and Branding Lead to join its Brussels-based team.

About the role

As a Communication and Branding Lead, you will be responsible for the full communication spectrum – combining strategic thinking with practical execution across digital channels, media outreach, advocacy campaigns, and stakeholder engagement. You will also work with the management and coordinate the branding, positioning and the voice of the association.

You will:

  • Develop and implement communication strategies that support Allied For Startups’ mission, advocacy goals, and policy priorities;
  • Manage and strengthen our digital presence across social media, websites, newsletters, and other channels;
  • Create engaging content that communicates complex policy topics in a clear and accessible way for different audiences;
  • Design and deliver impactful communication campaigns, including advocacy and awareness campaigns, from strategy to execution;
  • Support media relations activities, including drafting press releases and conducting press outreach;
  • Manage and update the organisation’s website and ensure content remains accurate and timely;
  • Work closely with the policy team to translate the policy calendar and developments into impactful communication opportunities;
  • Create communication materials, including social media content, newsletters, presentations, campaign assets, print materials, and more. Knowledge of tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and other digital tools is necessary;
  • Monitor communication trends and identify new opportunities to amplify Allied For Startups’ work;
  • Collaborate with international partners and stakeholders;
  • Support activities around events, including occasional travel when required.

Qualifications

  • University degree in journalism, communications, business, or another relevant field;
  • Experience in communications, public affairs, policy, or a related field;
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills; other languages are a plus;
  • Experience designing and delivering successful communication campaigns, managing social media channels, and creating engaging content;
  • Experience in producing engaging visual and multimedia content for digital and print communication;
  • An eye for layout, design, and visual storytelling;
  • Strong management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines;
  • Knowledge or at least interest and curiosity for the startup ecosystem, innovation policy, digital policy is a strong advantage. Experience in an innovative company is a plus;
  • Feeling at ease working with a multi-cultural team;
  • A nice and passionate personality, you are curious to learn about this ecosystem, to grow in your position and you want to have fun in your day to day job.
