Position description

The Center for Justice & Peacebuilding seeks Adjunct Faculty members to support its vision of preparing, transforming and sustaining leaders to create a just and peaceful world. As an Adjunct Faculty, you will help educate a global community of peacebuilders through the integration of practice, theory and research.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A master’s degree in a relevant field, such as conflict transformation, peace studies, restorative justice, or transformational leadership.

  • Previous teaching or mentoring experience in higher education or professional settings.

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of justice and peacebuilding theories and practices.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.

  • A demonstrated commitment to anti-oppression, anti-racism, diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. 

  • Experience with Popular Education, Flipped Classroom, or Non-Hierarchical instructional pedagogies.

  • Willingness to align practices with EMU’s instructional tools including Moodle and grading systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree in a relevant field.

  • Experience in curriculum design.

  • Publication record in the field of justice and peacebuilding.

  • Relevant practical experience.

  • Proficiency in a second language.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and interactive courses as needed to support the CJP curriculum or Summer Peacebuilding Institute.

  • Develop and update course materials to ensure relevance and alignment with industry standards.

  • Manage and organize digital learning platform (Moodle) to enhance instruction.

  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their assignments and projects.

  • Mentor and support students in their academic and professional development.

Skills:

In this role, you will utilize your strong knowledge of justice and peacebuilding theories and practices to deliver engaging and transformative course instruction. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be essential in providing constructive feedback to students and supporting their academic and professional development. Your ability to work effectively with a diverse student population will contribute to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Additionally, your experience in program development and curriculum design, as well as your publication record in the field, will allow you to contribute to the growth and enhancement of our justice and peacebuilding programs. Finally, your proficiency in a second language relevant to the field will be an asset in engaging with diverse communities and contexts.
