Position description

Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a global enterprise for international cooperation and sustainable development. Through its International Services (InS) unit in Brussels, GIZ implements projects funded by international donors such as the European Union.

The internship will take place within the framework of the MIGRA-FLEX Niger project, implemented by GIZ and funded by the European Union. MIGRA-FLEX provides flexible technical assistance for migration analysis, contributing to a better understanding and management of migration dynamics in Niger, in support of the Government’s priorities and Team Europe Initiatives (TEI). The project focuses on the collection and structuring of migration data, the production of regular and reliable analyses of migration flows, trends and policies, and the strengthening of monitoring, analysis and coordination mechanisms among national stakeholders. It also includes a rapid response mechanism enabling the EU Delegation and the Government of Niger to obtain targeted analytical support on demand in a rapidly evolving context.

The intern will contribute to the operational and administrative support of the project from the Brussels office, in close coordination with colleagues based in Niger and with EU counterparts.

Your tasks

During your internship you’l have the following tasks:

      • Supporting the coordination and implementation of the MIGRA-FLEX project from Brussels
      • Assisting in the preparation of reports, background notes and briefings for the European Union
      • Supporting the consolidation and formatting of project documentation and deliverables
      • Supporting monitoring and internal tracking of activities and timelines
      • Assisting in the preparation of meetings and follow-up notes
      • Supporting communication and coordination between Brussels and field-based experts
      • Contributing to knowledge management and document organisation
      • Supporting administrative tasks linked to project management and reporting

Your Profile

      • Enrolled in or recently graduated (max. 6 months) from a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme in international relations, political science, public administration, development studies or related fields
      • Excellent command of French (mandatory)
      • Good command of English (working knowledge required)
      • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple parallel tasks in a structured manner
      • Very good command of MS Office (especially Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Comfortable working with digital collaboration tools (MS Teams, SharePoint, MS Lists or similar)
      • Reliable, proactive and able to work independently, strong attention to details
      • Interest in migration governance and international cooperation
      • Experience in document management and knowledge organisation is considered an asset

We pay a monthly stipend of €1.350,- (gross). Please note that the contract will be concluded under Belgian law.
