Position description

This role may be based in our Belfast or Dublin offices. Based in Belfast/N Ireland the salary will be £44,533 and if in Dublin or the rest of Republic of Ireland, the salary will be €57,053 per annum. Hybrid working arrangements are available and a generous benefits package is attached to the post.

The Partnerships & Philanthropy Manager will be passionate about international development, strategic, and personally engaging with the ability to distil complex information into compelling and persuasive content for current and potential supporters. The manager will be solutions-oriented and positive in their relations with colleagues and supporters alike. The role is a key link between the Fundraising & Supporter Engagement Team and Christian Aid Ireland’s programme work around the world.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising and Supporter Engagement, the Partnerships & Philanthropy Manager will be a key member of the Fundraising and Supporter Engagement team helping to shape the culture and the strategy of the team.

The post-holder will be responsible for the work of the Partnerships & Philanthropy sub-team including building, identifying, maintaining and managing long-term relationships with a variety of donors and influencers across Ireland. The post holder will be expected to secure significant and sustainable income and reach agreed fundraising targets.

This post holder will need to communicate the work of Christian Aid Ireland effectively, and be up to date on social, political and developmental topics to engage in meaningful conversations as an ambassador for Christian Aid Ireland.

The post-holder will manage the Partnerships & Philanthropy Officer who will assist in the logistics and implementation of some of the outlined activities below.

About you

Essential skills:

• University degree or relevant equivalent professional qualification and/or experience in this area.
• At least 5 years fundraising experience with a demonstrable track record of successful results, preferably within an international development charity
• Proven experience of fundraising focused on at least two of the following areas:
• Legacy marketing, relationship management and estate administration
• Mid and major donors including identification of potential new supporters, relationship management, proposal writing and reporting
• Denominational or trust partnerships including relationship management, proposal writing, resource writing and reporting and evaluation
• Proven understanding of the principles of fundraising across a range of methodologies.
• Experience of developing audience led communication materials to keep supporters and volunteers updated regularly.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; high level of numeracy and good IT skills
• Experience of how to work within Church structures, particularly Christian Aid Ireland’s ‘sponsoring churches’.
• Excellent prioritisation and organisational skills and the ability to set up, manage and complete projects within time constraints.
• Ability to work collaboratively across departments with strong interpersonal, diplomacy and influencing skills.
• Commitment to Christian Aid Ireland’s mission, vision, values, aims, objectives and equal opportunities.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Ability to travel.

Desirable

• Diploma or Certificate in Fundraising
• Experience of managing and motivating volunteers.
• Understanding of / experience of the issues facing INGOs in effective fundraising.
• Marketing, Public Relations qualification or equivalent experience.
