Position description

Handicap International / Humanity & Inclusion (HI) is an independent and impartial international solidarity organization that intervenes in situations of poverty and exclusion, conflict, and disaster. Working alongside people with disabilities and vulnerable populations, it acts and bears witness to meet their basic needs and improve their living conditions. Since its creation in 1982, HI has implemented development programs in more than 60 countries and intervenes in numerous emergency situations. CONTEXT:

The Rehabilitation Technical Department employs 13 people (2 managers, 8 specialists, 1 PDO, 1 project manager, and 1 assistant) who are responsible for providing technical support and a framework for HI’s programs worldwide, as well as for leading research and innovation projects and representing HI externally. For rehabilitation, this mandate is carried out in a humanitarian and development context.

JOB OBJECTIVES:

The main objective is to develop and implement a business development strategy to promote, position and sell HI’s expertise in early rehabilitation to humanitarian medical and surgical organizations , with the expected result of establishing paid partnerships for the provision of these services.

Mission 1: Business Development

• Identify key opportunities and propose priorities for business development in its sector;
• Develop an action plan dedicated to business development (including performance indicators) as well as a range of specialized offers in its field;
• Develop new sources of financing consistent with sector strategies;
• Identify, evaluate and recommend strategically relevant donors;
• Design and manage innovative projects covering several countries or themes;
• Strengthen and maintain global partnerships, including the creation of consortia with NGOs, institutions and specialized companies.

Mission 2 : Influence

• Represent HI’s technical expertise within its network and disseminate best practices in the sector.
• Ensure sector monitoring and communicate relevant trends, standards and innovations internally.
• Provide initial technical support and advice to external stakeholders in accordance with international frameworks and standards.
• Contribute to the influence of major networks, in particular by guiding the policies, practices and budgets of key donors and partners.

Mission 3: Emergency Preparedness and Response Responsibilities

• Contribute to supporting or implementing emergency preparedness actions for programs and, in emergency situations, adapt working methods in order to participate effectively in HI’s humanitarian response.

Expected Results

• Strategic mapping of potential medical and surgical humanitarian actors (NGOs, UN agencies, donors, mobile hospitals, etc.) with early rehabilitation needs;
• Definition of INGO’s service offering: added value, intervention formats, costs, contractual terms;
• Targeted sales approach: development of a communication and engagement strategy (presentations, brochures, sales pitches);
• Active prospecting and direct contacts with decision-makers in targeted organizations;
• Negotiation and conclusion of pilot contractual partnerships;
• Roadmap for expanding this business approach over 12 to 24 months.

Expected deliverables

• Target partner mapping report (with prioritization);
• Framework note for the commercial service offer;
• Presentation kit (brochure, slideshow, pitch deck);
• Prospecting mission reports and monitoring of discussions with partners.

REQUIRED PROFILE:

• Proven experience in humanitarian business development or in the health sector
• Good knowledge of medical and surgical humanitarian actors
• Experience in selling services with social or humanitarian impact
• Ability to produce sales presentation tools and negotiate contractual agreements
• Ideally, knowledge of functional rehabilitation or physical health in emergency and chronic crisis contexts
• Languages: fluent in French and English

WORKPLACE ACCESSIBILITY:

The premises are easily accessible by public transport (bus, metro). Car parking and a bicycle park are also available. Within the building, access ramps and elevators ensure better circulation. All workstations are located in open spaces, but cubicles are available on each floor for working in peace and quiet if necessary. The workspace is very bright.

JOB CONDITIONS:

2-month fixed-term contract starting September 15, 2025
