<div class="prose-job-description“>

Position description

Intuit — the global financial technology platform behind TurboTax, Credit Karma, QuickBooks, and Mailchimp — is seeking a Director Head of Global Public Affairs to lead and direct the company’s global public affairs function. Based in Washington, DC and reporting to the Vice President of U.S. Federal Advocacy and Global Public Affairs, this executive owns Intuit’s public affairs strategy at the global, federal, state, and local levels. The Director of Global Public Affairs is accountable for translating the Global Corporate Affairs and Public Policy (GCAPP) strategy into measurable business outcomes on behalf of Intuit’s customers.

This is an executive leadership role. The Director defines the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the global public affairs function; leads a team of public affairs professionals; and exercises broad discretion over how Intuit tells the story of its customers to policymakers. The role leads the team responsible for paid media, strategic alliances, grassroots advocacy, third-party influencer outreach, and Intuit’s political action committee (PAC) and policy association engagement — the campaign infrastructure that creates the conditions for Intuit’s policy priorities to win.

This position serves as part of the GCAPP team and works directly with colleagues across Legal, Compliance, and Policy (LCPO), Intuit Brand and Marketing, Corporate Communications, Global Business Solutions Group (GBSG), Consumer Group (CG), and Corporate Responsibility teams.

This is a hybrid role with on-site expectations of 3 days per week in our Washington, DC office. We prioritize being together to promote connection and belonging, creativity and innovation, as well as speed, agility, and productivity to accelerate getting work done.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and build a high-performance team of six direct reports, and multiple external agencies, with a mandate to strengthen Intuit’s brand and reputation among policymakers.
  • Develop and execute proactive, integrated public affairs communication strategies and content that articulate and support Intuit’s legislative, regulatory, and public policy objectives, ensuring alignment with business priorities and reputation goals.

  • Oversee Intuit’s political action committee (PAC) and policy association engagement, ensuring rigorous compliance, a clear political giving strategy, and alignment with the company’s advocacy priorities.

  • Direct Intuit’s grassroots and grasstops advocacy capability, mobilizing customers, employees, and allied voices in support of the company’s policy objectives.

  • Build close, durable relationships with senior leaders across the LCPO organization and the broader business (including Intuit Brand Marketing and Corporate Communications), aligning Intuit’s global public affairs objectives with concrete business outcomes and ensuring strategy moves in lockstep with business and reputational priorities.

  • Translate complex policy topics into accessible, persuasive narratives for policymakers, advocacy organizations, community groups, trade associations, think tanks, and media.

  • Identify opportunities, venues, and creative communications tactics to meet Intuit’s objectives.

  • Strengthen message discipline, ensuring alignment across Public Affairs, Government Affairs, Legal, and functional partners.

  • Proactively identify and remove friction across and beyond Legal, Compliance, and Policy Organization (LCPO) to increase the velocity at which Intuit delivers for its global stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 15+ combined years of experience on political campaigns, in government work, or in public affairs and/or public relations with a major corporation, an agency, and/or trade association.

  • Experience working on political campaigns or in capitals — in the US or internationally — is preferred.

  • Proven track record of converting public affairs initiatives into concrete business results — measurable shifts in policymaker perception, coalition and grassroots scale, and campaign wins that created the conditions for legislative or regulatory outcomes.

  • Experience managing external agencies and significant campaign budgets, with accountability for results.

  • Familiarity with PAC operations and the compliance environment governing corporate political activity, or demonstrated ability to lead a regulated political program with the highest standards of integrity.

  • Strong writer, with the ability to distill key messages and present them in a compelling and visually interesting way. Proficiency with design, digital content production, and digital ad buying preferred.

  • Operates and makes an impact across organizational boundaries and at the industry and policy level.

  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, effectively analyzing and assessing opportunities and threats, prioritizing focus, and interpreting developments.

  • Capacity and drive to understand fully the business and operational elements of Intuit, including parsing what is mission critical from the trivial.

  • Ability to connect policy outcomes to business value by tying policymaker engagement and outcomes to the company’s growth priorities.

  • Experience operating across multiple geographies and policy contexts.

  • Executive acumen, with experience advising and preparing senior executives for high-stakes policy engagements. Reputation for having the highest ethical standards and integrity.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (JD, MBA, or master’s in a relevant field) strongly preferred.

  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally as business needs require.
