Position description

The academic year salary for an Associate Professor will not be less than $84,950 and for a Full Professor will not be less than $95,764, based on the most recent collective bargaining agreement between the faculty union (AAUP-AFT) and Rutgers University.

The final salary offer may be determined by several factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and expertise, and availability of department or grant funds to support the position. Posting Summary

The Political Science Department at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, is hiring an associate or full professor for a tenured, endowed position in International Relations with a focus on security, broadly construed. Substantively, this includes research on international security, foreign policy, the political economy of security, human rights repression, conflict resolution, civil conflict, and other security-adjacent topics. The position will begin Sept. 1, 2026. The ideal candidate employs sophisticated methodological approaches. The selected candidate for the Moses and Anuta Back Chair in Conflict Resolution will be expected to conduct research and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in International Relations. Candidates must have a PhD in political science, international relations, or an adjacent field. This endowed position includes an annual research budget drawn from the proceeds of the endowment.
