Secondary Education in the Humanities (English, Social Studies, Theatre, & World Language) Adjunct Faculty

Adjunct Faculty – College of Education

The Subject Matter Education Program (Secondary) in the Humanities in the Department of Content Area Teacher Education is searching for qualified, experienced adjunct instructors to teach in our programs and to supervise candidates during Clinical Practice (student teaching). This is a part-time, adjunct position with the possibility of renewal on a term-by-term basis. The position requires availability during the daytime hours (8 am – 5 pm). We are particularly interested in candidates who can supervise clinical practice candidates in middle and high school English Language Arts, Social Studies, Theatre, or World Languages.

Qualifications: 

Required

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in education and/or related area from an accredited institution of higher education in a field at the time of appointment
  • A minimum of 3 years of successful teaching in P-12 settings
  • Demonstrated ability in communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering academic achievement, social and personal responsibility, and social justice
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in an environment devoted to collaboration, collegiality, professional development, diversity, scholarly inquiry, student learning, civic responsibility, and respect for all people
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with P-12 schools
  • A teaching/learning philosophy consistent with the mission of the College of Education

Preferred

  • Experience with the Danielson Framework
  • Experience teaching in postsecondary settings
  • Experience teaching content in areas such as: English, Social Studies, Spanish, or Theatre at a secondary level (6-12)

Note

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US, and the university will not sponsor an applicant for a work visa for this position.
