Essential Functions

  • Provides direct instructional services to students with disabilities based on their Individualized Education Program (IEP).
  • Experience working with students with behavioral, cognitive, intellectual, social, and emotional disabilities.
  • Assesses individual students with disabilities for the purpose of preparing and implementing individual education programs.
  • Teachers will participate in professional development prior to the start of the ESY Program and meet regularly with site-based and district office ESY Lead.
  • Develops, adapts, modifies, and individualizes educational materials, resources, techniques, methods, and strategies to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Establishes and maintains effective discipline and management procedures for students.
  • Evaluates the academic and social progress of students participating in the ESY Program.
  • Collaborates with parents of students participating in the ESY Program to ensure ongoing communication and instructional support.
  • Participates in-service training, staff development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned.
  • Maintains appropriate records and documents for students participating in ESY Program.
  • Maintains confidential and sensitive information.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies, administrative regulations, and professional standards.

Desired Qualifications

  • Holds unexpired MSDE educator licensure or certification in Special Education that includes grades 7-12; dual certification in content area preferred.
  • Employee of Baltimore City Public Schools for the 2025-2026 school year, with the intention to remain an employee for the 2026-2027 school year.
  • Possession of all appropriate licenses, certificates, and contracts for the 2026-2027 school year (non-renewals, expiring certifications, separations including retirees will not be considered for summer school employment).
  • Acceptable annual rating by school principal/administrator.
  • Exhibits professional oral, written communication, and human relation skills
  • Unless expressly stated otherwise with respect to the qualifications indicated in the position description, City Schools reserves the right to consider other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position.
