Position description

HOW YOU’LL HELP US KEEP CLIMBING (OVERVIEW & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)

      • Maintains up-to-date and deep understanding of worldwide threat dynamics and trends, including those related to terrorism, civil unrest, violent crime, and narcotics smuggling.
      • Collects, assesses, and assists in writing and disseminating intelligence analysis products for Delta stakeholders including communications to crews, regular threat briefings, security assessments for new station openings, and intelligence support for special events.
      • Uses understanding of worldwide security environment to prioritize, filter, and assess credibility of open- source intelligence reports and sources.
      • Collects and manages intelligence data to feed into station risk assessment program and other intelligence- based security risk assessment programs.
      • Supports the team by writing reports and other communication products and drives process improvements across the team’s security programs.
      • Presents results of analysis and other products to Management.
      • Conducts briefings/presentations as necessary.
      • Practices safety conscious behaviors in all operational processes and procedures.
      • Supports liaison and engagement efforts with government partners, industry counterparts, and private intelligence vendors.
      • Works on ad-hoc projects as assigned by manager.
      • Limited domestic and international travel possible.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)

      • Due to the nature of work performed, this position requires U.S. citizenship in accordance with applicable federal regulations.
      • Must be enrolled as a full-time student pursuing an undergraduate degree in a 4-year academic institution.
      • At least a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale.
      • Must be able to work on a full-time basis for a minimum of two alternating semesters: Summer 2026 and Spring 2027.
        • Optional to extend to a third rotation: Fall 2027.
      • This position requires student to work for at least two alternating semesters. Student cannot actively take any courses (inclusive of online or in-person) and work as a Co-op/Intern at the same time, which may delay graduation by 1-2 semesters.
      • Must be able to work onsite in our Atlanta, GA office for the duration of the Co-op.
      • Working as a Co-op/Intern does not guarantee a full-time opportunity at Delta Air Lines upon graduation. This position is intended to provide educational and professional work experience to prepare the student for the workforce.
      • Strong writing skills are essential.
      • Should work well in a team environment and possess a high degree of initiative and drive.
      • Familiarity with US and international security policy.
      • Understanding of trends in worldwide security environment, particularly regarding terrorism/counterterrorism and the aviation industry.
      • Must have strong analytical skills as well as a high degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
      • Ability to manage several responsibilities at once with little supervision.
      • Ability to independently develop both internal and external networks.
      • Must seek challenging, analytical work and must possess the ability to communicate detailed geopolitical analysis through oral and written means to all levels of management.
      • Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
      • Embraces a diverse set of people, thinking and styles.
      • Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency.
      • Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.

WHAT WILL GIVE YOU A COMPETITIVE EDGE (PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS)

      • Highly preferred majors in International Relations, Political Science, Security Studies, English, Journalism, History, Economics, Government, or related field.
      • Familiarity with data collection tools and/or graphic design tools a plus.
