Position description
The Global Campus of Human Rights is seeking for a qualified individual for the position of full-time Human Resources Specialist at its Headquarters in Venice-Lido, Italy.
The Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for supporting the human resources management of the Global Campus Headquarters, under the supervision of the Administrative and Human Resources Director, with a view to fostering a results-oriented, flexible, high-performing and positive working culture within the organisation. The role primarily focuses on the day-to-day management of human resources, as well as the revision and design of human resources policies and strategies related to performance assessment and career development, in collaboration with the Administrative and Human Resources Director.
The candidate to support the human resource management of the Global Campus Headquarters must be an experienced human resources specialist with a strong sense of initiative and motivation to work in an international environment. The position requires a substantive part of the work to be performed in person at the Global Campus premises in Venice-Lido, while there is a possibility for partial smart work.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Day-to-day human resources management along the employment lifecycle:
- Support the organisation and employees along the employment lifecycle, including recruitment procedures, onboarding, continuous employee support, performance assessments, etc.
- Administrative management of staff contracts and internship agreements (including drafting ability)
- Management of staff attendance procedures
- Respond to requests from staff on human resources related issues, in coordination with the Administrative and Human Resources Director
- Foster a positive work environment by resolving conflicts and handling grievances by staff members where they arise, including through the already established GC Safeguarding and Integrity System
- Design/revision of human resources policies/strategies for staff performance assessment and career development:
- Redesign the annual staff performance assessment procedure, in collaboration with the GC Senior Management, including a strategy on training and career development incentives
- Reporting to the GC Senior Management (Secretary General, Administrative and Human Resources Director, Academic Director) on general developments, matters of concern and areas for improvement and development of further strategies
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a human resources role
- In-depth knowledge of Italian labour law, standards and the CCNL applied by the GC (for the commercial sector)
- Proven experience with drafting and managing of employment, collaboration and occasional contracts as well as internship agreements
- Proven experience in the management of staff attendance data and policies
- Excellent command of spoken and written English and Italian
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- High level of discretion and proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
Desired Qualifications or Experience
- Relevant university degree (e.g. in labour law, organisational psychology)
- Experience working in an international environment
- Experience working in the non-profit sector and/or an academic environment
- Interest in topics of human rights and democratisation
What we offer:
- Contract: 1 year full-time subordinate contract (Contract applied: National Collective Labour Agreement in commercial sector) with possibility of considering a part-time provision, and possibility of renewal.
- Salary: II Level range, exact amount to be based on qualifications.
- Smart Work Policy: 3 days per week
