Climate Leadership Coalition is a leading Northern European non-profit climate-business network based in Helsinki, Finland. CLC’s members are businesses, universities, research institutions and cities that collectively employ over one million people worldwide. Together, we work to influence climate policy, accelerate the green transition, and to promote solutions like carbon pricing and carbon removals. About the role

We are now looking for a policy specialist to join our eight-person team. We are seeking an analytical professional with a strong interest in climate, energy and circular economy policy, a keen eye for policy developments and a desire to help create conditions for practical, business-driven climate solutions.

As a policy specialist, you will work closely with our head of insight and advocacy to support the development and implementation of CLC’s policy advocacy, with a particular focus on EU policy. You will help analyse policy developments, contribute to well-founded policy positions, and coordinate advocacy-related activities, working groups and stakeholder engagement. You will also get to collaborate across the CLC team and engage with member companies and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

Policy advocacy and analysis

• Support the development and implementation of CLC’s policy advocacy, with a particular focus on EU policy;
• Monitor relevant legislative and political developments and identify issues relevant to CLC and its members;
• Analyse policy developments related to climate, energy, and circular economy, and synthesise complex information and data into clear, actionable insights;
• Prepare background materials, briefings and other content to support CLC’s advocacy work;
• Contribute to advocacy activities within CLC’s strategic projects.

Stakeholder engagement

• Support CLC’s engagement with policymakers, business representatives and other relevant stakeholders;
• Prepare and coordinate meetings with external stakeholders;
• Engage with CLC members to gather input and perspectives on relevant policy issues;
• Support the development of joint policy positions and advocacy messages;
• Participate in stakeholder discussions and represent CLC when appropriate.

Coordination and practical implementation

• Organise advocacy-related events, meetings and other activities;
• Ensure that agreed actions are followed up and information flows smoothly between CLC, its members and external stakeholders;
• Support CLC projects and working groups and coordinate meetings and related follow-up;
• Maintain relevant stakeholder and member information in an organised and up-to-date manner.

In this role, you report to the head of insight and advocacy. The employment is full-time and permanent. The salary at the start of the employment is EUR 3 750 – 4 250 per month. We would hope for someone to start in this position as soon as possible, for example in January 2027. The exact start date is negotiable. There is a 6-month probation period at the beginning of employment.

Our office is in Helsinki. We work from the office at least two days a week, if not otherwise agreed, with flexibility for special cases. By default, the whole team is on-site every Tuesday. You can also be based in Brussels or Stockholm, in which case all arrangements are agreed separately.

Some travel within Europe is expected as part of the role, typically a few trips per year between Helsinki, Stockholm, Copenhagen, and Brussels. Evening or weekend work is limited, expected approximately 4-6 times per year related to events.

CLC will accommodate a flexible start to the working relationship in the case of relocation but will not provide relocation services. Applicants are expected to have an EU work permit.
