Position description
International Social Service (ISS) founded in 1924 is a non-governmental, non-sectarian, non-profit and independent membership organisation, composed of representatives of national bodies pursuing common aims through a network of social work and legal services. The ISS head office is the General Secretariat (GS) located in Geneva, Switzerland. ISS strives to protect, defend, and support children, families and individuals separated as a result of cross-border migration. The Network Development & Engagement Unit is looking for an Officer focusing on development and strengthening the ISS global network through member engagement, network expansion, integration of new members, and coordination of capacity-building activities. The Membership Development & Engagement Officer will report to the Membership Development & Engagement Head and the Secretary General. Main Responsibilities • Act as the main point of contact for all matters related to the development and maintenance of the network. • Implement and monitor the network development and training strategy (2024–2028). • Implement the network guidelines and priorities regarding member engagement. • Identify and maintain contacts with potential partners in underrepresented regions in line with agreed priorities. • Coordinate the membership, due diligence and onboarding procedures for new members according to set procedures. • Contribute to the review and improvement of network policies, procedures and membership processes through relevant working groups. • Maintain partners’ engagement through targeted exchanges and cooperation (regional and thematic approaches). • Monitor the CRM system and membership data. • Develop and coordinate capacity-building events and continuing professional development programmes. • Prepare documents, analyses and proposals for the Membership Committee and other governing bodies. • Ensure effective communication between the General Secretariat and the Network members. • Design and prepare content of the Unit’s communication materials such as leaflets, presentations, newsletters, etc. • Support and collaborate with other GS Units as required.
Qualifications
Graduate degree in social sciences, law, management, communication, administration, or other relevant fields. • Proven professional experience of 3+ years in membership, project or stakeholder management. • Experience working in a multicultural environment, NGO or International Organisations is a plus. • Fluent both written and spoken in English, with working knowledge of French and/or Spanish, is a must. • Great interpersonal and presentation skills. • Advanced computer skills, experience with CRM or design tools is a plus. • Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities. • High level of autonomy yet with a profound team spirit. • Excellent organisational, planning and time management abilities. • Ability to travel occasionally.
