Position description

The Department of Political Science at the College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a visiting full-time faculty position for the 2026-2027 academic year to begin in August 2026. The position is open to regional specialization, though candidates focusing on the Middle East or Europe will be prioritized. Candidates will be expected to offer two sections of Introduction to Comparative Politics (27 students) and one upper-level course (19 students) in the fall. In the spring, candidates will offer two sections of Introduction to Comparative Politics and another upper-level course (19 students). This is a one-year, full-time position owing to a faculty leave. You can learn more about Political Science at the College of the Holy Cross by following this link .

Visiting full-time faculty teach 3 courses each semester and are eligible to apply for support to present at a conference or attend a professional development program through the Provost’s Supplemental Research Fund. The College will support reimbursement of relocation costs within its published policies. The College offers full benefits and a salary of $70,000.

The College will not support H-1B visa applications that require the $100,000 employer fee.

Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate commitment to, and excellence in, undergraduate teaching and inclusive pedagogies as informed by current practice and scholarship in the field. Candidates should have experience as an instructor or teaching assistant for introductory courses in comparative politics and in their area of regional specialization. A preference will be given to candidates with a Ph.D. in Political Science at the time of appointment; however, advanced ABD candidates with appropriate teaching experience will be considered.
