URRI is funded by the Royal Danish Embassy in Kampala.

The overall purpose of the role:

The position holder will strengthen the programme’s visibility and ensure smooth delivery of meetings, workshops, and events. The role combines practical coordination and organizational support with hands-on communication and branding work.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

Secretariat Support and Events Management (65%)

      • Support planning, coordination and documentation of quarterly Joint Management Group (JMG) meetings.
      • Support the planning and organization of annual IMC meetings, including programme development, logistics, invitations, and on-site facilitation.
      • Support the planning and organization of field visits, including itinerary development, logistics, development of briefing notes and on-site facilitation.
      • Support preparation of URRI programme reviews, including mid-term, and end-of-programme reviews.
      • Support planning, coordination, and documentation of cross-consortia coordination initiatives.
      • Prepare participant lists, minutes, reports, and photo documentation from events, meetings and missions.
      • Support follow up actions from meetings and events.

Communication, Branding and Visibility (35%)

      • Support the management of URRI’s social media channels (LinkedIn, X, Instagram), including content planning, posting, and analytics.
      • Work with Consortia Communications Focal Points to design and maintain a centralized URRI Photo and Video Repository for use by all partners.
      • Support the collection and packaging of human-interest stories, photos, and short videos from URRI activities, including through the procurement of freelance services.
      • Support the development of press releases, articles, and success stories for dissemination through social media and partner platforms.
      • Support production and archive high-quality communications and visibility materials, ensuring URRI partners’ compliance with DANIDA visibility requirements.
      • Provide editorial, visual design, and documentation support to the Secretariat and partners to strengthen communications efforts.
      • Undertake any other tasks or responsibilities as required to support the overall objectives of the Secretariat.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have at least 5 years of relevant experience in programme and secretariat coordination, communications, or events management, preferably in development or humanitarian work. Moreover, we also expect the following.

Required

      • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Social Sciences, Communication, Public Relations, or related field.
      • Proven experience organizing meetings, workshops, or high-level events, including logistics, participant coordination, and documentation.
      • Proven experience managing social media channels for an organization.
      • Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
      • Experience working in multi-partner or donor-funded programmes.
      • Photography, videography, and graphic design skills are a strong advantage.
      • Proactive, creative, flexible, and able to work independently as part of a small, fast-paced team.
      • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate effectively across diverse stakeholders.
      • Excellent multitasking and time management skills.
      • Fluency in written and spoken english.

Desirable

      • Interest in refugee resilience, climate adaptation, and gender equality is an asset.
      • Knowledge of local languages spoken in URRI targeted districts is an advantage.

In this position, you are expected to demonstrate DRC’s five core competencies:
