Position description
Banyan Global is seeking a full-time, Canberra-based, Team Leader for an anticipated Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion (GEDSI)-focused DFAT project. The Team Leader will be responsible for overall project performance, management, and execution ensuring all project deliverables, including on-demand technical assistance, are delivered to excel across quality, budget, and timeframe standards. They will be innovative, forward-thinking, and responsible for ensuring alignment of assistance with DFAT’s strategic priorities.
Responsibilities
- Leads planning, oversight and coordination of all project activities and personnel, operational and technical;
- Ensures all project deliverables exceed expectations and are managed within budget and on time;
- Manages client relations and serves as primary liaison with the client and stakeholders regarding overall priorities, resource mobilization and allocation, joint initiatives and coordination of project management and planning;
- Ensure internal integration of project activities through 1) the annual work plan and budgeting process; 2) creating/maintaining an effective project management team; 3) overseeing an effective monitoring and evaluation system;
- Responsible for personnel management and development and implements practices to ensure a high level of staff morale and retention.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree and 15 years of experience, Master’s degree and 12 years of experience, PhD and 8 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience in GEDSI or related field;
- Ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience and expertise in the implementation of large and complex projects relating to GEDSI issues or related fields;
- Ten (10) years of progressive senior management experience on programs of similar sized international donor programs (DFAT experience strongly preferred) with strong skills in strategic planning, management, supervision and budgeting similar size and scope;
- Demonstrated experience managing technically, operationally, and geographically diverse teams;
- A demonstrated track record engaging experts, organizations, and institutions from diverse backgrounds, based in target regions;
- Five (5) years’ substantive experience working with DFAT stakeholders at the country, region, or headquarters level in strengthening engagement, capacity, and/or programming;
- Knowledgeable and experienced with DFAT contracting policies and procedures;
- Strong leadership skills including demonstrated skills in building, mobilizing, and leading multidisciplinary teams;
- Proven ability to work under pressure, and with multiple concurrent demands;
- Strong ability to work across technical and operational areas;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- English language skills required. First Nations and/or visual languages encouraged.
