Job Description / Essential Elements:

POSITION: Special Education Preschool Teacher (Autism) SALARLY: Teachers’ Salary Schedule WORK YEAR: 10 months position, 6.0 hours per day Definition: Under supervision of Programs for Exceptional Children, provide direct instruction to students with non-severe special needs (ages 3-6) in all areas of development according to identified needs. Duties: Provide direct instruction and learning opportunities in the areas of language acquisition, social skills, fine/gross motor skills and preschool concept development. Provide direct supervision and direction for classroom instructional assistant. Develop Individualized Educational Programs in a compliant manner with other service providers. Foster collaborative relationships with service providers and family members of students with special needs. Examples of Duties: 1. Create daily lesson plans in accordance with IEP goals and objectives 2. Provide direct instruction in an age and developmentally appropriate manner in all areas of development. 3. Collect data and report progress on each student’s goals and objectives. 4. Develop and implement compliant IEPs for assigned students. 5. Work with Coordinator and Program Specialist to articulate transition for students from Pre-K to Kindergarten classrooms. 6. Create a daily schedule for instructional assistants and provide direction for their instructional activities with students. 7. Complete progress reports and provide regular communication with parents regarding student progress. 8. Collaborate with speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and other service providers regarding student needs and IEP goals. Minimum Qualifications: 1. An earned Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education with an emphasis on early childhood development. 2. Credential 3. Able to lift students safely up to 30 pounds. 4. Physically fit to provide supervision to active young children in the classroom and playground settings. Knowledge of: 1. Special Education regulations and procedures 2. Early Child Development, especially in the areas of language acquisition and preschool conceptual development. Requirements For This Job: -Possession of, or eligibility to receive, a non-emergency California teaching credential authorizing instruction in core curriculum -CLAD/BCLAD highly desirable. -Completed application -Resume -Cover Letter -Proof of passing CBEST and CSET -Three Letters of recommendation -Official (sealed) transcripts of all college course work (undergraduate and graduate) -TB test current within the past six months
