Position description

REScoop.eu is currently looking for a Senior Expert Flexibility to join its team in Brussels.

Your role

Flexibility (demand-side management, flexibility markets, smart grids, aggregator roles, etc.) is becoming increasingly important in giving citizens an active role in the energy system. As Senior Expert Flexibility, you will strengthen the federation as a subject matter expert in this field.

You will guide members, advise policy work, contribute to projects, and develop knowledge, tools and best practices for energy communities engaged and/or interested in getting active on the topic.

You will report to the Head of Capacity building.

What will you be doing?

      • Expanding REScoop.eu’s knowledge base on flexibility and energy markets (technical, market-oriented, legal).
      • Identifying trends, challenges, and policy developments in flexibility at the EU and Member State level.
      • Developing clear analyses, memos, and advice on this topic.
      • Assisting members in establishing flexibility services, smart grid solutions, demand response, and local energy markets.
      • Organising knowledge sharing through workshops, webinars, peer learning, and best practice exchanges.
      • Developing tools, manuals, e-learning modules, and standard models for energy communities.
      • Providing content for EU projects (Horizon, LIFE, etc.).
      • Leading or supporting work packages of EU-funded projects related to flexibility and energy markets.
      • Writing thematic contributions to proposals (technical concepts, use cases, scenarios).
      • Representing REScoop.eu in (technical) forums, expert groups, and consortia.
      • Presenting insights at conferences and events.
      • Contributing to coalitions such as ETIP SNET, smart grid networks, and flexibility forums.

What do you bring to the table?

Experience and knowledge

      • Thorough knowledge of flexibility, demand response, local energy markets, smart grids.
      • Understanding of relevant EU legislation.
      • Technical understanding of data, ICT, metering, aggregator roles, and platforms.
      • At least 5 years of experience in a similar position.
      • A master’s degree.

Skills

      • Ability to translate complex technical topics into understandable insights.
      • Strong stakeholder management and networking skills.
      • Creative and connecting facilitator who can bring together different perspectives.
      • Project management experience.

Languages

      • Very good knowledge of English (working language).
      • Knowledge of other European languages is a plus.
