Position description

Harvard Fellow Opportunity at Research Associate at the People Lab, Harvard Kennedy School. Explore the Research Associate Fellow opportunity at The People Lab, Harvard Kennedy School. Research Associate Fellows will be expected to:

  • Collaborate with faculty members and research teams on empirical research projects related to public sector performance, civic engagement, and public service delivery.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of field experiments in partnership with government agencies.
  • Analyze large datasets using statistical software and contribute to data visualization and policy briefs.
  • Co-author working papers and academic publications.
  • Present findings at academic conferences, policy convenings, and internal lab meetings.
  • Support ongoing collaboration with external partners, including government officials and nonprofit organizations.

Qualifications

Education and Certification

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in public policy, economics, political science, statistics, or a related field is required.
  • Additional coursework or certification in data science, RCTs (randomized controlled trials), or public administration is highly desirable.

Experience

  • Experience in applied research, including internships or professional roles in government, academia, think tanks, or nonprofit organizations.
  • Proficiency in statistical software such as Stata, R, or Python.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong writing and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with diverse teams and community-based organizations is a plus.

Additional Information

  • This is a full-time fellowship based at the Harvard Kennedy School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
  • The position is designed for individuals interested in applying to PhD programs or pursuing policy careers after the fellowship.
  • The fellowship typically lasts for one year, with the possibility of renewal based on project needs and performance.
  • Fellows receive a competitive salary and benefits, including access to Harvard’s extensive academic resources.
