Climate, Economics & Finance Program at WRI India

The Climate, Economics, and Finance (CEF) Program leverages cutting-edge analysis, innovative tools, and real-world implementation to inform India’s low-carbon transition—one that is technologically viable, economically feasible, socially inclusive, and nature-positive.
We are seeking a motivated professional to join our Climate Finance team. As a Program Associate – Climate Finance, you will support research and capacity building initiatives aimed at promoting innovative climate finance solutions in India at the subnational and national level.
How your day will unfold:
- Research Support
- Conduct research on climate finance mechanisms, policies, and market trends under the guidance of program leads.
- Collect and analyze data related to climate finance initiatives, funding gaps, and investment opportunities.
- Support the development of financial assessments and basic modeling to inform climate finance projects.
- Assist with literature reviews and background research for team projects.
Publications & Thought leadership :
- Draft sections of research reports, policy briefs, blogs, and knowledge products on climate finance topics.
- Prepare presentation materials for stakeholder meetings and capacity building sessions.
- Support the documentation of case studies and best practices in climate finance.
Stakeholder Engagement :
- Coordinate and support workshops, training sessions, and stakeholder consultations on climate finance topics.
- Maintain relationships with government officials, financial institutions, and other partners through regular communication.
- Prepare and distribute communication materials for external engagement and capacity-building activities.
Project Administration :
- Track project timelines and deliverables to ensure on-time completion.
- Support budget monitoring and expense reporting for program activities.
- Maintain project documentation and assist with progress reporting.
Qualifications and Requirements we seek:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in finance, economics, environmental studies, public policy, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience in research, climate/environmental projects, or finance.
- Basic understanding of climate finance concepts and sustainable development.
- Good analytical skills with the ability to process and interpret data.
- Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with basic data analysis tools is a plus.
- Strong writing and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
