Key Outcomes:

In the first 90 days, this role will:

  • Actively participate in onboarding
  • Learn and model the organization’s values
  • Start relationship building with People and Talent (P&T), Humanitarian Programs (HP), and other key stakeholder teams
  • Learn and become familiar with working documents, contracts formats, and Humanitarian mobilization/demobilization SOPs
  • Maintain a P&T Response Tracker

In the first 6 months, the role will:

  • Enhance P&T Humanitarian Response mobilization and demobilization checklists and processes
  • Collaborate with relevant partners to maintain updated roster member files
  • Support with developing a P&T humanitarian response philosophy

In the first year, the role will:

  • Effectively provide guidance and support to Humanitarian Programs for issues on contracts, contribute to humanitarian response playbook and other deliverables from assigned projects
  • Perform a gap analysis regarding the Humanitarian Programs debrief process; seeking to understand how we might refine our P&T debrief procedure
  • Enhance duty of care procedures and safeguarding systems for mobilized employees and roster members

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the People Operations emergency response mobilization and demobilization processes for global roster members and deployed employees
  • Provide People Operations guidance regarding compliance, contracts, labor law, pay and benefit equity, and other considerations to the HP team to help inform their decisions about budget and programmatic parameters for readiness and response contexts
  • Support compliance with legal and governmental reporting requirements
  • Lead all employee relations matters for short-term response staff in coordination with the emergency response team; support Associate Director with long-term employee relation matters
  • Conduct pre-departure briefing/training to ensure staff have all the documents and necessary information for successful deployment
  • Enhance duty of care and safeguarding SOPs, support, and policies for mobilized employees and roster members
  • Lead special global people operations projects determined based on organization priorities
  • Responsible for keeping roster members’ files up to date, as well as employees who will be mobilizing
  • Maintain and update a global People Operations response tracker
  • Ensure timely payment for short-term humanitarian responders
  • Coordinate and administer response personnel performance reviews
  • Be on-call during humanitarian responses
  • Execute P&T-related administrative duties
  • Actively model and contribute to Americares values, work culture and mission
  • Engage in and contribute to team spaces with openness, global competencies, and a growth mindset
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements for the role:

  • Demonstrated experience in People and Talent within non-profit contexts that are fast-moving and require managing multiple concurrent urgent projects
  • Ability to work independently to create process and systems enhancements for stakeholders
  • Deep collaboration and partnership skills with cross-functional teams in multiple locations
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Impeccable attention to detail
  • Experience writing and enhancing people operations SOPs
  • Availibility on-call and in off-hours/times during humanitarian responses
  • Able to travel up to 25% to emergency response locations
  • US work authorization with no travel restrictions

Preferred Competencies for the role:

  • Fluency in languages that are spoken in at least one of our core locations (India, Philippines, Tanzania, El Salvador, Colombia, etc.), in addition to English.
