Position description

Foreign Policy for America (FP4A) is a national, membership-based organization working to strengthen support for principled American engagement in the world. Together with our members and partners, we promote sound policies, hold elected officials accountable for their votes and actions, and help elect champions for our values. The Foreign Policy for America family of organizations includes FP Action Network, our federal political action committee (PAC), and Foreign Policy for America Foundation, our 501(c)(3) educational arm.

Duties

Foreign Policy for America (FP4A) is hiring an early-career professional to join our Washington, DC team as an Outreach Associate. The ideal candidate is a service-oriented, collaborative, and highly organized individual with a passion for community building and FP4A’s mission. The Outreach Associate will help grow and strengthen FP4A’s national network by supporting member engagement, organizing events, and fostering community in assigned cities. They will work closely with team members to deliver a top-tier membership experience and help execute candidate fundraising events for FP4A endorsed candidates.

Key Responsibilities:

Power Building & Organizing

      • Support FP4A’s growth in assigned regions by recruiting new members for the Leadership Circle and National Committee.
      • Build connections with emerging leaders through FP4A’s NextGen Initiative
      • Identify opportunities to expand FP4A’s reach and influence in assigned cities.

Member Programming

      • Plan and execute Leadership Circle Dinners featuring leading foreign policy voices and members of Congress in assigned cities.
      • Support NextGen Initiative events in Washington, DC and assigned cities.
      • Coordinate fundraising events, including organizational fundraisers and events in support of FP4A-endorsed candidates.
      • Support team-wide efforts in planning for the annual FP4A Leadership Summit.

Relationship Management

      • Maintain strong, personalized relationships with FP4A members to ensure high-quality membership experience.
      • Execute an onboarding process for new members and use Every Action to track member engagement.
      • Conduct regular check-ins with members and secure membership renewals in assigned cities.

In addition to key responsibilities outlined above, the Outreach Associate will contribute to organization-wide strategic planning and assist with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

While the listed requirements below have proven helpful for past Outreach Associates, FP4A values diverse experiences and skills. If you feel you would excel in this position despite not meeting all requirements, we encourage you to apply.

      • 1-4 years of professional experience. Internships and student leadership experience are counted as 50% towards this total (i.e., 4-month internship = 2 months of experience).
      • Background in political organizing, campaigns, fundraising, event planning, and/or stakeholder engagement preferred.
      • Demonstrated commitment to Foreign Policy for America’s mission and values.
      • Strong interpersonal skills and genuine enthusiasm for working with people.
      • Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
      • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
      • Familiarity with Every Action, Act Blue, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) preferred.
      • This position is based in Washington, DC with a hybrid work environment. Regular travel to assigned cities is required.

Compensation: Compensation will be tailored to reflect the candidate’s unique skill set and experience, with a salary range of $45,000 – $60,000. Overall compensation includes a highly competitive benefits package including 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance; 401k program with matching contributions; paid parental leave; unlimited paid time off; and more.
