Our Offer

Our model for success is a better life for everyone and purposeful tasks for our employees. For more than 50 years, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), as a company of the German Federal Government, has been supporting the implementation of development policy goals worldwide. Together with partner organisations in 120 countries, we are involved in a diverse range of projects. If you want to make a difference in the world and develop yourself in the process, you have come to the right place. At the GIZ Representation Brussels our primary role is to observe and assess the EU and Brussels-based international development landscape and to coherently represent GIZ within this sphere. By hosting events and delegation visits and enabling networking through dialogue we connect the EU to GIZ and vice versa. Moreover, it is our task to promote good cooperation between the various GIZ projects and units represented in Brussels. We support them with HR, accounting and administrative services and thus ensure administrative coherence within GIZ in Brussels.
We are looking for 2 interns that bring the necessary background as described below to join our team for a period of 6 months. A shorter internship period is not possible.
We offer an exciting internship in a friendly, dynamic environment. Our team spirit significantly contributes to our success. If you are a communicative and outgoing individual who can work and organise independently, approach challenges with a solution-oriented mindset, and demonstrate constant enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, we encourage you to apply.
You will gain insights into the structures and working methods of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, as well as practical work experience in the direct environment of the European Union. You will develop your knowledge of EU international partnership stakeholders in Brussels, as well as their priorities and instruments.

      • * * Please note that we assess your profile throughout our selection process (written test and interview). We therefore encourage you to prepare accordingly. * * *

During your internship you will support the following tasks:

      • Support the observation and analysis of the activities of the European institutions in particular European Commission departments, as well as the European Parliament and the EEAS
      • Written contributions to our bi-weekly newsletter, policy briefs, background material, analysis, and reports on a multitude of subjects relevant to GIZ and EU development cooperation
      • Support of the organisation and execution of events. This includes both the more strategic aspects such as conceptualisation as well as logistical aspects
      • Participation in and reporting on events
      • Accompany GIZ colleagues visiting Brussels based stakeholders
      • Preparation and moderation of our team meetings
      • Research tasks for the staff and the Director of the Representation
      • Providing support to the administration team

      • Have knowledge of the European international partnerships’ stakeholder landscape, and
      • Understand EU policy processes and institutions and reflect this in your Application documents.

Also you should bring

      • A strong ability to work independently and take initiative in an international context,
      • A high sense of personal responsibility and commitment to delivering quality results,
      • Genuine enthusiasm for international cooperation and global development issues,
      • Keen interest in working at the interface of policy, economics, and international collaboration.
