Executive Director – BA International

BA International (BAI), the for-profit subsidiary of Brewster Academy, seeks a dynamic and visionary Executive Director (ED) to lead Brewster’s international operations, with a particular focus on Brewster Academy Spain (BAS). This position requires an entrepreneurial leader who can steward educational quality, drive business development, and manage international growth while ensuring fidelity to the innovative, team-based Brewster Model®. This role blends the responsibilities of a CEO and strategic venture leader, with a global, future-facing mandate. This opportunity has an anticipated start date of January 2026.

ABOUT BA INTERNATIONAL & BREWSTER ACADEMY SPAIN
BA International (BAI) operates with a bold vision to expand the Brewster Model®—a highly individualized, team-based educational approach—into new international contexts via a licensing agreement with Brewster in Wolfeboro, NH. Brewster Academy Spain (BAS) is the flagship international endeavor, currently operating across three campuses with the Brewster Model® providing the programmatic foundation for each campus. This arrangement is managed through a sublicensing agreement between BAI and BAS. While in its early years, BAS has demonstrated strong results, future potential, and close alignment with the Brewster philosophy.

The Brewster Academy Spain campuses:

  • Chamberí (Madrid) – serves 350 students in grades K-12; led by Campus Director Jean Maher
  • La Moraleja (Madrid) – serves 165 students in grades K-12; Incoming Campus Director Jennifer Pro
  • Murcia – serves 50 students in grades PK-6; led by Campus Director Jonathan Fouser

POSITION DETAILS
The Executive Director of BA International reports to Brewster’s Board of Trustees and is responsible and accountable for all business development and performance of Brewster’s international campuses. As a manager of BA International, the Executive Director is accountable to the disinterested directors of BAI who oversee the daily execution of the Executive Director’s duties. The Executive Director ensures the fidelity of the Brewster Model across all international campuses and works closely with Brewster Academy’s Head of School to oversee ongoing innovation of the Brewster Model and to maintain the integrity of Brewster’s brand and mission. The Executive Director is appointed by the BAI Managers to the Brewster Academy Spain (BAS) Board. The Executive Director has oversight of the Executive Vice President for Business Development, the Chief Administrative and Operating Officer, the Dean of Network Admission, and of each international Campus Director.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
We recognize that there is a spectrum of lived and professional experiences that will set candidates up for success in this role. While no one candidate will have every experience outlined in the position description, ideal candidates will display the following professional and personal qualities, skills, and characteristics:

  • Proven success managing complex, multi-campus, or international educational organizations.
  • Financial fluency and experience with performance-based budgeting and investment strategy.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of turning strategy into execution.
  • Deep understanding of education and business—equally comfortable with academic values and entrepreneurial realities.
  • Fluent in English; fluency in Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of HR, legal compliance, and corporate governance.
  • Strategic mindset with hands-on operational capacity and experience
  • Effective at leading through influence, with a demonstrated ability to work across cultures and contexts.
  • Experience working in or with private/international schools is highly desirable.
  • Confident with investors, boards, and school leaders.
  • Agile communicator, thoughtful risk-taker, and culturally fluent leader.
  • Ready to grow something from the ground up—small team, big vision.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. The salary range for this role is $250,000 – $300,000 with a generous benefits package designed to support physical, mental, and financial wellness. In addition to a competitive base salary, this role includes eligibility for performance-based incentive compensation, aligned with key organizational goals such as enrollment growth, financial sustainability, and successful execution of strategic initiatives.

The successful candidate for this role must be willing and able to travel – sometimes on short notice – to and from Wolfeboro, and spend significant time in Spain throughout the year. The ideal candidate is comfortable navigating diverse cultural contexts and representing the organization abroad with professionalism and adaptability.
