About the role

We are looking for a proactive candidate with demonstrable interest in the field of communications to join our small international team in Brussels. This role will report primarily to our Programme and Communications Manager. In an initial phase, the Communications and Events Assistant will focus on supporting the successful delivery of EDAA’s annual conference (EDAA Summit 2025, 18 November). As of December-January, the focus will gradually shift onto regular communications activities, enabling the successful candidate to experience two different aspects of the yearly life cycle of communication activities in a Brussels-based association.

Expected tasks will include:

      • Communications:
        • Development of content for EDAA’s website (e.g. blog articles, press releases);
        • Publication of above content to EDAA’s website;
        • Development of content for EDAA’s social media channels (LinkedIn, X), including copy and visuals;
        • Publication of above content to EDAA’s social media channels;
        • Drafting and layout of newsletters covering key topics relevant to the activities of EDAA;
        • Contribution to the development of messaging, information architecture and graphic assets explaining the role and value of EDAA and its activities (e.g. infographics);
        • Identification and analysis of broader communications opportunities, including collaborations at key industry events and meetings.
      • Event management (main focus for the month of November 2025):
        • Contribute to the organisation of EDAA’s annual conference, the EDAA Summit 2025 (taking place on Tuesday, November 18), including pre-, during and post-event tasks such as:
          • Supporting the creation and publication of promotional content (social media, newsletters, blog posts, articles);
          • Based on experience, supporting the development of event-related creatives (e.g. badges, signage, speaker cards);
          • Liaising with speakers, where necessary;
          • Ensuring that event-related databases are kept up to date;
          • Contributing to the smooth running of the event on November 18;
          • Supporting with post-event tasks (e.g. publication of articles and video interviews, publication of post-event survey).

Your profile

      • University degree or demonstrable interest in communications, European studies, international relations or a related field;
      • A background demonstrating interest in communications activities, professional- or volunteer-based (e.g. prior work experience during studies);
      • Knowledge of or interest in privacy and data protection issues;
      • Knowledge of or interest in digital advertising policy and practice;
      • Excellent English writing, editing and proofreading skills (knowledge of other European languages an asset);
      • Digital skills: Google Workspace (Docs, Slides, …); Microsoft Office package; mailing platforms (Mailchimp); graphic design tools (Canva); social media management (LinkedIn, X);
      • A burst of creativity with a keen eye for detail.

Desirable but not required:

      • Previous direct experience in the digital advertising sector (e.g. professional or volunteering experience in an advertising agency, a news outlet, …);
      • Previous direct experience in event management (professional or volunteer-based);
      • Web management skills (WordPress, WP Bakery);
      • Graphic design skills (Adobe CC).
