Job Summary

This position will work with the Gilman International Scholarship Program. The Gilman International Scholarship Program, administered by IIE on behalf of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA), is a prestigious initiative that supports high-achieving undergraduate students from all 50 states. This selective program provides scholarships for students to study or intern abroad for academic credit and plays a vital role in advancing U.S. foreign policy and diplomatic objectives. Gilman Scholars come from all 50 states and are recognized as citizen ambassadors during their international experiences. Their journeys abroad are not just about academic and career enrichment; these scholars return to the U.S. ready to implement impactful service projects and contribute positively to their communities and the workforce, paving the way for economic prosperity. In addition, the esteemed network of Gilman Alumni benefits from lifelong access to career development resources and networking opportunities, making it a distinguished program that shapes future leaders.

The Communications Analyst plays an integral role in producing and managing multimedia content for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program. This role will also monitor and track media engagement and contribute to maintaining the website.

As part of a team which develops and implements the Gilman Program’s Outreach and Communications strategy, the Communications Analyst supports the program’s annual outreach and engagement plans by organizing and tracking conference and event engagements, booking travel, processing payments, and other essential tasks.

Essential Functions:

      • Create and manage content for the Gilman Program, including drafting text, producing graphics and videos, updating the Program website and managing the photo and video library, in accordance with Program guidelines and requirements.
      • Regularly monitors media, including news stories, social media posts, and other external content about the Gilman Program, flagging any areas of concern or important highlights with manager.
      • Supports the coordination and implementation of outreach activities, including conference engagements, communications campaigns, in-person and virtual events, material production and distribution, and sponsor reporting requirements.
      • Processes routine payments for vendors, stakeholders, conferences and other outreach team expenses.
      • Facilitates Gilman Scholars selection panels and occasionally serves as part of the weekend watch team in monitoring global safety and security conditions.

Job Requirements

Qualifications and Experience:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least two (2) years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of one year of professional experience producing communications materials, including social media content, graphics, and videos following content and branding requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle a large volume of work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail under time constraints and pressures.
  • Strong writing and editing abilities with solid attention to detail.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Prior experience in updating and maintaining website content is highly preferred.

Hiring Range: $53,847- $66,102.54.A candidate’s starting salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, job-related knowledge, skills, abilities, internal organizational equity, and geographic region.
