This position is located in the Solutions Transformation (ST) Team in the Software Products for Member States Unit (SPMS), Digital Transformation and Solutions (DTS), Information Technology Service (ITS), Division for Management (DM), United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV)/ United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), in Vienna (Austria). The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Solutions Architect, Software Products for Member States (SPMS), and the overall guidance of the Chief, Software Products for Member States (SPMS).
Responsibilities
- Full-stack development, test and debug applications using Angular, SQL and Microsoft .NET technologies.
- Ensure compliance with the established development procedures. Ensure compliance with requirements and UNODC standard policies, guidelines and procedures for software development.
- Develop, test and debug applications using Search Engine based on Elastic search is desired.
- Prepare detailed technical and user documentation for deployed computer application systems and conduct technical presentations.
- Maintain functional specifications for computer application systems, programmes and procedures developed and/or modified.
- Follow version managements standards for the computer application being developed.
- Participate in analysing requirements and propose technically feasible solutions.
- Installation and setup support on member states’ installation of goAML following established guidelines, as needed.
- Participate in software configuration by identifying and documenting the scope of the product underway and enabling communication of these to relevant stakeholders.
- Provide support for application systems deployed in Member States.
- Proactively keep all channels of communication with clients open. Communicate with clients on relevant Virtual Community platforms.
- Contribute to the collection and analysis of data as well as identification of trends or patterns and provide draft insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods for data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
- Perform any other work-related duties as required.
Education:
- An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in information systems, computer science, mathematics, statistics or related field is required.
- A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- Relevant Microsoft development certification is desirable. Certification in the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is desirable.
- Applicants to positions at this level who have an advanced university degree in a relevant field of study are not required to have professional work experience. For applicants who have a first level university degree, two additional years of qualifying work experience is required.
- A minimum of two years of work experience in progressively responsible experience in the planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of computer information systems or related areas using Microsoft .NET/C#, ASP.NET and/or SQL is desirable.
- Experience with agile development approaches and associated development techniques is desirable.
- Experience in UI/UX design is desirable.
- Experience in Fintech, Regtech is desirable.
- Experience in data analytics or related areas is desirable.
- Work experience within the United Nations system or similar international organization is desirable.
- English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
- For the post advertised, fluency in English is required.
- Knowledge of French and Spanish are an advantage. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
