Overview

The Adjunct Instructor works with the Program Chair and Lead Course Instructor to teach program courses. The Adjunct Instructor is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion and advises and supervises master’s degree candidates, actively participates in faculty collaborative learning, and demonstrates scholarly productivity.

Responsibilities

Teach graduate course sections (on campus and online) in one or more of the following areas:

  • child/adolescent development;
  • assessment;
  • teaching students with disabilities;
  • literacy instruction;
  • mathematics and science instruction;
  • educational technology;
  • history and philosophy of general and special education
  • Courses are pre-designed in a standard format. Participation in an Adjunct/Full Time Instructors’ Learning Community is expected.
  • May supervise candidates during clinical practice.
  • Support program advisement for candidates.
  • Uphold the missions and values of Touro College and the GSE.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree required, earned doctorate preferred, in Curriculum, Instruction, Special Education, or related field
  • Current certification in Early Childhood Education and in Special Education
  • Successful classroom teaching experience, Birth – Grade 2, of diverse students
  • Successful graduate-level teaching experience, face-to-face and/or online
  • Successful leadership experience
  • Experience in course and program design
  • Successful experience supervising degree candidates in clinical field placements, if assigned for clinical supervision
  • Commitment to culturally relevant and sustaining pedagogy
  • Knowledge of NYSED teacher certification examinations
  • Excellent communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
  • Proficiency in online learning platforms including Canvas and Zoom

Travel

  • Occasional travel to Program Meetings at Touro College locations.

Maximum Salary

USD $4,000.00/Sem

Minimum Salary

USD $3,500.00/Sem
