Position description

We are hiring a Communications and Media Specialist (m/f/d) to join our dynamic communications team to support our brand, influencing and engagement goals to help achieve Transparency International’s vision of a world free from corruption.

This role combines supporting our press office function with developing integrated communications and media strategy and carrying out activity to support priority influencing campaigns, helping to add pressure on decision makers and inspire public support for our work.

You’ll haveexperience in media relations and working in a press office, and be comfortable designing media strategy,pitching to journalists and creatinghigh quality press releases and opinion pieces. Thisrole would suit someone who is a brilliant writer and able totailor their writing style for different audiences and formats. You’ll use framing techniques and insights to develop powerful messaging to support our campaigns, and collaborate with digital colleagues to produceonline articles, social mediaand email content. You’ll connect with colleagues from across our global movement to identify and gather compelling stories about our work fighting corruption.

This role would suit someone with at least five years of experience working in communications, including a press office, who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and wants to use their creative skills to drive positive change.

OVERVIEW OF KEY DIMENSIONS

Role Purpose:The Communications and Media Specialist (m/f/d/) develops and implements communications activity to support brand, influencing and engagement goalsTeam:Communications.Band:PF2Reporting Line:Head of CommunicationsStarting Date:Mid June – mid July 2026Contract Duration: We offer an initial fixed-term contract of two years. There is a prospect of extension subject to organisational need, performance and funding.Salary Band:According to TI-S internal salary structure; for this position corresponding to band PF2 salary starting EUR 42,000 gross per year depending on relevant experience.Working Hours:full time [100%; 40 hours per week]Location: Hybrid within Germany. All staff are required to spend a minimum of four days a month in our office in Berlin.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE ROLE

As part of the Communications Team and reporting to the Head of Communications, the Communications Specialist will:

      • Design and deliver integrated media and communications strategies to support our priority brand and influencing objectives, such as a campaign toprevent fossil fuel interests from blocking ambitious climate action.
      • Work as part of the press team to manage requests, identify reactive opportunities,brief spokespeople, andcontribute to daily and monthly coverage summaries.
      • Use framing techniques and insights to develop powerful messaging to support our campaigns.
      • Collaborate with digital colleagues to produce online copy, articles, socialmedia and email content.
      • Be a brand champion, guiding policy and research colleagues through the publications process, ensuringfreelance editors and designers are effectively briefed and content is brand aligned.
      • Build relationships with colleagues across the Transparency International movement, identifying opportunities to collaborate to drive impact, and delivering training on best practice communications.
      • Contribute to broader communications strategy and the effective operation of the Communications function by supporting on other tasks as required.

Qualifications

      • At least 5 years of practical experience developing and delivering strategic media and communications activity to support organisational goals, ideally within a campaigning context. Knowledge of political, economic, climate or human rights issues is desirable.
      • Experience in media relations and working in a press office.
      • Degree and/or professional qualification in communications, social science, journalism, economics, or another relevant field.
      • Excellent writing and editing skills in English, to native speaker standard, and ability to turn complex issues into accessible language and persuasive messages.
      • Strong organisational skills and ability to effectively manage priorities and competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
      • Excellent collaborator, able to work effectively and sensitively as part of an international team.
      • Commitment to Transparency International’s values and mission.
