Atlantic Council

Atlantic Council

Position description

The Atlantic Council’s “Future of Emerging Economies” project focuses on the South Asia region’s challenges in public health, development, and digital public infrastructure, among other areas, and prospects for subregional cooperation to help tackle them. The project requires a full-time staffer to help share research results and meeting outcomes and to ensure insights from high-level convenings, regional travel, and research are catalogued and presented to a large public and private audience.

The Program Assistant will play a key role in managing the Future of Emerging Economies project, in close coordination with the project team. The preferred candidate will be someone who can take the initiative on their assigned portfolio and can deliver elements outlined under job responsibilities, in a timely manner with limited oversight. While this is an entry-level role, we are looking for someone interested in developing and growing their regional and thematic expertise by taking initiative on a growing portfolio and entrepreneurial team.

This position will be based in our Washington, DC, headquarters, requiring a minimum of 4 days per week in office. The Atlantic Council offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, education, and organizational equity, with offers from $55,000 to $57,000. Applications submitted by March 31, 2026, will be prioritized for consideration, with an expected start date of early July 2026.

      • Email Distribution: Manage the project’s email subscriber lists and outreach via platforms like HubSpot.
      • Publication Coordination: In coordination with the project team, guide issue briefs, reports, and memos through the Council’s editorial pipeline, liaising between authors, external experts, and the Council’s editorial team.

Media Relations & Outreach

      • Media Coordination: Assist in drafting media tip sheets and/or press releases; maintain and update regional media lists of journalists and outlets who work in or on south Asia.
      • Analytics Tracking: Monitor and report on “impact metrics,” including media mentions, website traffic, and social engagement, to help refine the project’s outreach strategy.
      • Media Creation: Lead on interactive content strategies for presentation of the project’s information and research.

Event & Administrative Support

      • Logistical Execution: Support the planning and execution of in-person, hybrid, and virtual events ranging from public panels, private roundtables, and major engagements in the region.
      • Meeting Support: Produce concise readouts and summaries of private briefings for internal archives and stakeholder reporting.

      • Bachelor’s degree or higher in international affairs, economics, or relevant fields.
      • Proven track record in tracking multiple lines of effort simultaneously and a demonstrated ability to work efficiently and collaboratively.
      • Excellent organizational, logistical, and administrative skills; experience in database management is highly desirable.

      • Approximately 1-2 years’ relevant work experience is a plus.

To produce quality work and to successfully achieve our mission, we recognize the need for our staff to maintain a healthy lifestyle and a work/life balance.
