War Child International

War Child International

Position description

Role Purpose

As President of War Child Switzerland, you become a leading voice for children affected by conflict. You guide the board, strengthen our strategic direction, and open doors that help us reach even more children.

You are our ambassador — connecting people to our mission, galvanizing supporters, and creating meaningful opportunities for growth, visibility, and fundraising.

Key Responsibilities

      • Provide inspiring leadership and clear governance for the foundation
      • Represent War Child Switzerland with credibility and heart — nationally and within the War Child global family
      • Drive key fundraising initiatives and support high-end events with an active, visible presence
      • Mobilize and expand a strong network of major donors, corporate allies, and entrepreneurial supporters
      • Champion War Child’s mission and strengthen our public profile
      • Lead and facilitate effective board meetings and help shape strategic decisions
      • Collaborate closely with War Child Netherlands and the War Child Alliance Foundation to ensure alignment, synergy, and shared opportunities
      • Encourage bold ideas, innovation, and new partnerships

Qualifications

      • Senior leadership or board‑level experience, ideally in complex or high-impact environments
      • A strong and diverse network in Switzerland — and the willingness to actively activate it
      • A hands-on, energetic approach to events, donor engagement, and strategic initiatives
      • Excellent communication, ambassadorial presence, and relationship-building skills
      • Flexibility to engage during peak fundraising moments
      • Alignment with War Child’s values and a genuine commitment to creating safer futures for children
      • Residing and/or working in Switzerland.

What we offer

      • You will become part of great team and international network of passionate professionals who care deeply about children affected by war.
      • You will become part of a professional, growing international charity organization with a unique, scientifically proven approach.
      • While this is a volunteer position, we do offer an expense allowance to cover reasonable costs related to the role, such as travel costs.
