Position description

The Carnegie Mellon Institute for Strategy and Technology (CMIST) is seeking applicants for a special faculty part-time Lecturer position for the fall 2026 semester. The successful candidate will teach a graduate course, “Employing Qualitative and Quantitative Methods in Policy Analysis,” for the MS Security, Technology, and International Relations. This course is designed for graduate students on the Pittsburgh campus and will meet twice per week for 80-minute sessions throughout the fall 2026 semester, from mid-August through mid-December.

Compensation for teaching the full semester course will be $11,000.

Background

The Carnegie Mellon Institute for Strategy & Technology, or “CMIST,” is a university-wide initiative dedicated to the wise development, use and governance of new and emerging technologies that are changing war and peace. The home for Carnegie Mellon University’s study of Political Science and International Relations, CMIST is uniquely poised to take advantage of the university’s strengths in computer science and engineering, and its distinctive tradition of cross-university, cross-disciplinary research. Focused on questions of power and governance, CMIST builds new frameworks for managing global and national security challenges.

Qualifications:

      • Ph.D., JD, (or another terminal degree)
      • Teaching Experience at the University-Level
