Position description

Based in Brussels, our young and multicultural team is looking for a motivated and versatile trainee to support the Secretariat’s daily activities under a Convention d’Immersion Professionnelle (CIP).

Your role

Reporting to the Secretary General and working closely with the EBC Secretariat, you will become familiar with the work of European organisations, the construction sector and the role of SMEs, while providing hands-on operational and administrative support and contributing to policy- and project-related activities.

Your tasks will include, in particular:

      • Partnerships and liaison support (e.g. mapping of stakeholders; contacts lists; attend events and meetings);
      • Support to project and policy work (e.g. desk/background research; draft and proofread notes/briefings; create presentations);
      • Support on communication and events (e.g. create visual material; draft articles; organise meetings or events);
      • Office management and administrative support (e.g. internal reporting; agenda management; archiving).

This traineeship is designed as a learning experience, offering broad exposure to association work, public relations, office management, and project coordination within a European umbrella organisation.

Your profile

We are looking for a reliable, proactive and well-organised candidate with the following profile:

      • Eligible for a Convention d’Immersion Professionnelle (CIP) under Belgian law;
      • Relevant academic background;
      • Strong interest in EU affairs, the role of SMEs and crafts in Europe and/or the construction sector;
      • Comfortable with administrative and organisational tasks and willing to take responsibility;
      • Good research, drafting, and synthesis skills;
      • Excellent command of English (working language); knowledge of French and/or other EU languages is an asset;
      • Good digital skills (MS Office package) and creativity (Canva);
      • Ability to work independently while being a strong team player;
      • A first exposure to work in EU affairs or a similar environment is an asset but not required.
