Position description
Applications are welcomed for a Director of Journalist Programmes who will be responsible for leading on delivery, strategic development, and long-term financial sustainability of all Journalist Programmes at the Institute. The role will report to and work closely with the Institute Director and be part of the senior management team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior editorial leader to maximise the international impact of the Institute’s work across the worlds of journalism, research and media policy.
The journalist programmes, aimed at outstanding midcareer journalists from all over the world, include the internationally renowned and unique Reuters Journalist Fellowship Programme as well as the Oxford Climate Journalism Network, short courses, and all journalist-focussed projects and activities.
The successful candidate will be a recognised authority in their field, both as a senior editorial leader and as an expert with an international reputation. The job involves leadership, representation, development and fundraising.
Contract type: The role is full-time, fixed term until 31 August 2028, with a possibility of extension subject to funding renewal. This is a hands-on role, and the post holder is expected to reside in Oxford.
