Job Summary 

The University of Texas at Tyler invites applications for a Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Instruction in Philosophy. As a dynamic and growing institution committed to academic excellence and innovation, UT Tyler seeks a dedicated educator to join its faculty beginning Spring 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach first-year and second-year philosophy courses in the core curriculum 
  • Teach upper-level philosophy courses as needed 
  • Collaborate with the Director of the Philosophy Program on curriculum development and assessment 
  • Respond to and communicate with students, colleagues, and the department chair in a timely fashion 
  • Maintain regular on-campus presence
  • Attend departmental meetings 

Required Qualifications 

  • Ph.D. in Philosophy
  • Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence 
  • Experience in teaching ethics 
  • Experience in face-to-face and online teaching (undergraduate) 
  • Proven ability in building trust through collaborative decision-making, embracing shared governance, and integrating with the community
