Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity

Position description

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is seeking a dynamic, senior strategic leader to position key initiatives, driven by the Volunteer and Institutional Engagement (VIE) division, as impact businesses that are financially self-sustaining through an earn-revenue model. Serving as the Growth Lead of the Global Village Program, this high-impact role is critical for driving both growth and sustainability, serving as a strategic growth accelerator by leading the development, scaling, and integration of innovative engagement approaches that generate exponential revenue growth and strengthen mission impact across HFHI’s global network.

Habitat’s Global Village is a transformative weeklong international volunteer experience with opportunities across five continents. Volunteer groups support Habitat’s vision where everyone has a decent place to live by building or improving homes in partnership with local communities.

The first major focus of this position will be to evolve and scale Habitat’s existing Global Village program into a model grounded in a robust earned-income strategy, designed to drive significant revenue growth and deepen programmatic outcomes. Over time, the role is expected to apply similar growth strategies to other key engagement initiatives.

This is a 3-year position and will be located in Atlanta, GA (USA) on a hybrid work schedule.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Transformation and Impact Business (Strategy, 20%):
• Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for transforming division-led initiatives, particularly the existing Global Village volunteer program, into financially sustainable impact businesses through an earn-revenue model.
• Establish and manage a growth accelerator/hub to refine and scale mission-aligned initiatives.

Digital Innovation and Earn-Revenue Efficiency (Innovation, 20%):
• Modernize legacy systems through innovative digital solutions, including exploratory use of artificial intelligence.
• Drive digital initiatives that enhance operational efficiencies and revenue performance.

Revenue Diversification and Market Expansion (Growth, 25%):
• Identify and engage new market segments and geographies to diversify revenue and expand HFHI’s global market reach.
• Design and execute scalable revenue generation strategies in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Process Optimization and Change Management (Operational Excellence, 15%):
• Optimize internal processes, structures, and resource allocation through strategic team design and selective outsourcing.
• Implement continuous improvement practices for enhanced operational effectiveness.

Impact and Performance Measurement (Performance, 10%):
• Develop and implement robust systems for measuring mission outcomes and financial results.
• Set clear performance metrics and targets for growth, revenue diversification, and operational efficiency, driving accountability across teams and alignment with industry best practices.

Global Partnerships and Collaboration (Partnerships, 10%):
• Foster international and cross-functional collaborations to scale impact-driven and revenue-generating initiatives.
• Cultivate and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, regional offices, and external partners to share best practices and drive Habitat’s global impact.

Minimum Requirements:

Education:
• MBA or equivalent advanced degree in business, strategy, or a related field.
• In lieu of an advanced degree, candidates must demonstrate a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience with measurable success in areas such as social enterprise, social impact innovation, social entrepreneurship, or significant revenue generation/fundraising may be considered.

Years of Related Experience:
• Minimum of 8 years of in-depth experience in strategy, marketing, innovation, or growth-focused transformation roles, with demonstrated success in scaling initiatives, social enterprise, or entrepreneurial ventures, including mobilizing investment, securing catalytic or impact-driven funding, or developing sustainable revenue streams.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Proven track record of developing and implementing sustainable, revenue-generating business models.
• Strong change management skills, balancing people-centered approaches with effective strategic implementation and program stability.
• Robust financial acumen with demonstrated expertise in revenue diversification, operational efficiency, and performance measurement.
• Demonstrated proficiency in leveraging technology, including artificial intelligence and data analytics, to optimize processes and drive measurable impact.
• Experience optimizing operational structures and resource allocation through adaptive methodologies.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven track record in building and maintaining strategic partnerships.

Preferred Requirements (in addition to minimum):
• Nonprofit or volunteer management experience not required; diverse industry backgrounds encouraged.
• Experience working in multicultural, global, or social enterprise settings.
• Exposure to integrating digital innovation with operational improvements in dynamic environments.

Active support of HFHI Values:
o Humility – We are part of something bigger than ourselves
o Courage – We do what’s right, even when it is difficult or unpopular
o Accountability – We take personal responsibility for Habitat’s mission

Safeguarding: HFHI requires that all employees take seriously their ethical responsibilities to safeguarding our intended beneficiaries, their communities, and all those with whom we work. Managers at all levels have responsibilities to support and develop systems that create and maintain an environment that prevents harassment, sexual exploitation and abuse, safeguards the rights of beneficiaries and community members (especially children), and promotes the implementation of Habitat for Humanity’s code of conduct.

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance. For work locations in the US, the hiring range for this position is $116,030 to $136,500.

Staff hired on a hybrid basis in the United States near an HFHI office location (Atlanta, Georgia), are required to report to the office on Tuesdays.
